I never really liked them. The Happy Mondays are better, IMO.

Ok, so my husband had this album the whole time, and I just never saw it.....

I've been listening to it, and I really do like a lot of it. And I recognize a lot as well. I just never knew who they were. lol

Some of it really has a Beatles-esque feel to it, along with The Animals. But of course, "I Wanna Be Adored" is still the best song on there, IMO.

Their debut is the most overrated album ever. Terrible indie shite, people go on about John Squire being god but he just rips off Jimmy Page. Fools Gold is the dullest song of all time. Love Spreads was their best song and that somehow managed to cram every riff off Led Zeppelin II onto it. INDIE TOSS!!!!!

biggrin Well, I'm just listening to it for the first time this morning, and I did notice some Jimmyisms in there. I don't know "Love Spreads" though so I can't comment on the Zeppelin II riffs just yet. Now I really AM intrigued, as you can imagine why. razz

mushy Jimmy.....

(not that Jimmy never ripped off anyone though) lol

I loves me some Stone Roses! I never could get into their 2nd album though. If you have a DVD player that plays PAL DVDs there's a 2 DVD set that is out that has all their promos, TV appearances in Europe, & a concert or two.

Well said, this band was crap and they won't be remembered in 10 years unless you see one of them working at a gas station.

Did you manage to listen to Love Spreads yet? The main riff kinda reminds me somewhat of Moby Dick and there's a really hilarious Whole Lotta Love refrain in there too. It's fun but i don't think people realise where this guy got all his licks from.

I was in college when the Stone Roses were big and it was just what is this junk? I just never saw the greatness in them. At the time i was listening to Janes Addiction and The Pixies and this band seemed to get more attention and i was like WTF they're appalling.

That's funny. While I was a big Jane's Addiction and Stone Roses fan, I saw the Pixies get all this attention and couldn't for the life of me understand why. I just never was able to get into it.

WELL..... I was a big Jane's Addiction fan and never listened to either the Stone Roses OR The Pixies. razz

I'm a smartass and you can't hear my tone of voice on the internet. I really meant no offense, arguing about music is funny to me (like high school funny).

On another note, I'm sure the Stone Roses will be remembered from now until forever (because of this thread and the island of GB) lol

Minneapolis, check out "Love Spreads" and get back to us on what you think. In fact, buy it used so when your anger comes through it will be offset by the deal you found by buying it used.

peace
