Ok, I admit I never knew who The Stone Roses were... until I saw the video for "I Wanna Be Adored" a few minutes ago. I've always LOVED that song, but I never knew who it was.
Well, now I know. Are the rest of their songs just as good? "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Well, now I know. Are the rest of their songs just as good? Get yourself their debut album The Stone Roses. Trust me, you'll love it. Not a clunker in sight.

The follow up, The Second Coming is pretty decent, too. It's a little Zeppelin-esque in places, so you may end up prefering it to their first.
To round up the best of the rest (as there were only two studio albums) you could take a chance on Turns Into Stone or The Complete Stone Roses (which is actually a misnomer). Or you could take a chance on me. Oh! Wait! That's Abba....

I recognize this album actually. And then right after I posted this thread, they played a bunch of Stone Roses videos in a row, and I realized that I knew all of the songs but just had no idea who did them. You need the Complete Stone Roses for Elephant Stone and sally Cinnamon. And Where Angels Play. And One Love. And you need to get the long version of Fools Gold too. “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

It's a little better than that. Breaking Into Heaven, Driving South, Ten Storey Love Song, Daybreak, Begging You and Love Spreads are all great songs, in my opinion.

Take out Daybreak and add tightrope and youve named the best tracks. Well done cloudy! “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

MinneG! It's funny, back in high school I remember always hearing bout this band, but not paying much attention. I didn't purchase their debut album for a good year after it came out. When I finally put it on, I about died. So much of that CD was played-out at First Ave back in the day. They were all my favorite songs to dance to, I just had no idea they were ALL by the Roses. After one listen, I was completely sold. Take the advice here and pick up their stuff. Look for a pressing of "The Stone Roses" with Fools Gold added, then Turns Into Stone and then The Second Coming (which you'll likely find used somewhere). Better late than never, I guess. Just DON'T let this happen again, young lady!

The Stone Roses were a great band... such a shame it never really took off from the 1st album (which IS a classic).
There's some very good tracks on The Second Coming it sounds like the band were about to head in a very interesting direction. As an album, though, you can't go wrong with 'The Stone Roses'

If you like the Stone Roses, then I suggest you give a band called "The Music" a try.
Their new album (Welcome to the North) is out in the UK and will be out here in US next month. I loved their first album but the new one is much more focused and surpasses it in my opinion. Anyway, check em out. peace Cause tomorrow is taking too long
and yesterday's too far away and the reality that you believe in begins to bind.

Their debut is the most overrated album ever. Terrible indie shite, people go on about John Squire being god but he just rips off Jimmy Page. Fools Gold is the dullest song of all time. Love Spreads was their best song and that somehow managed to cram every riff off Led Zeppelin II onto it. INDIE TOSS!!!!!
