The Cure vs. The Smiths/Morrissey

Let the debate begin.

Back in the day when Morrissey was still with the Smiths, he was constantly attacking Robert Smith in the media for no apparent reason.

Robert Smith has gone on the record recently saying that he doesn't understand what was up Morrissey's ass, that they'd never even met. He said, "how can you hate someone so much that you know nothing about personally?" and then went on to say that he thinks Morrissey is a fine entertainer, but hasn't liked a single thing he's done musically. Ouch.

Where do you stand on this oldschool feud?

Morrissey has always seemingly had something up his craw at one time or another. He is always peacefully raging against some machine. I think it's his "sincerity."

One thing Ive always disliked about Morrissey and The Smiths was that pseudo-intellectual/elitist element they always seem to convey.

I love The Smiths' stuff, and Morrissey's solo stuff. His new one's very good.

Yeah, he can be an arse sometimes, but i think that's what endears us to him. In these very bland times he has the balls to say exactly what he thinks.

As for The Cure, i adore Lullaby. Don't know many others sad Was put onto Lullaby by an article Tricky wrote about it being one of his favourite songs.

What would be the first album you'd recommend for my education?

The Cure. But only cause I didn't get into the Smiths and Morrissey till later in my youth. Had I opened up to them the same time I did the Cure I wouldn't be able to choose a fave.

Me and some friends of mine tried to see the Sisters back in 96 (or maybe it was 97... or 98) and the bastards pulled a "oh sorry... my throat.... or aah... my leg... but regardless go home cause we're not gonna play tonight". Bastards! I've never liked them since.
Change it one more time..

I vote for this great mixer I have with Joy Division and Fields of the Nephilim. guitar
