From Amazon.co.uk: "All the world's a stage and folk legend Nick Drake--a frail, reclusive romantic whose music was sad but beautifully emancipating and who died young in 1974 in mysterious circumstances--was one of life's reluctant players." [Edited 9/29/04 20:40pm]

yeah, i like nick drake a lot. i have one really good anthology disk ("way to blue") and i have a feeling i don't really need much more to get my nick fix...so maybe i'm not a HUGE fan, but i really like listening to him. there's a biography on him out, ya know. it was at my local used bookstore, but someone grabbed it before i could get my hands on it.

Nick Drake is (or was) an exceptional talent.
Maybe there's a touch of sentimentality because he passed away so young and in such depressing circumstances, but the music is truly great. Way to Blue is a great place to start and includes many of his greatest songs, like Fruit Tree, Time has told me, Things behind the Sun and Black Eyed Dog. The albums, few as they are though, are well worth getting. Especially Pink Moon There are some half-decent boots out there too.

River Man and Pink Moon are my favorites! I always wondered if Jeff Buckley was influenced by him... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

Can you tell me more about the boots? I have a couple but don't really know what to look for. I love this artist and wish he had made another choice to work through his depression.
