My Windows Media Player on random: moody alt-rock overdrive!!! I just figured out how to copy files to my hard drive through Windows Media Player. It's just File>Copy>Copy from audio CD, and it copies in .wma format (192kpbs max). Normally, this would be useless (which is why I didn't even bother before), but at work, I can just keep them on my hard drive and listen to a random selection. So here's what I've got on the PC so far:
Nirvana Bleach (Still my most-listened to Nirvana album. If there are two albums I must always have with me, it's this one and R.E.M.'s Eponymous.) Joy Division Unknown Pleasures (Just got his last year - still in awe) R.E.M. Document (to balance things out a bit) Deconstruction Deconstruction (post-Jane's one-off with Dave Navarro and Eric Avery. Easily their best work outside Jane's) The Cure Disintegration (Just got this last week, but of course know all the singles. The Cure is responsible for some of the most beautiful music ever to make it to radio. Amazing.) Jane's Addiction Ritual de lo Habitual (Equal parts fury, groove and beauty. There will never be another album like this.) Depeche Mode Violator (the old standby) Bjork Medulla (the wild card pick) I fired up full random and this is what I got: The Cure - "Lovesong" Bjork - "Midvulkage" R.E.M. - "Oddfellows Local 151" Joy Division - "New Dawn Fades" Joy Division - "I Remember Nothing" Jane's Addiction - "Three Days" Eclectic, to say the least. And no, I am not depressed after listening to all this. When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air, they act as a prism and form a rainbow. The rainbow is a division of white light into many beautiful colors. Regardless of the day, I'm glad you were born.

I don't have my "Ritual de lo Habitual" anymore!
I need to get another copy. I haven't even heard it in years. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven
