02 - want you more - my lest fav on cd, everyone on other Duran sites love this song 1/5

03 - what happens tomorrow - this is a bit slower than the demo version, very "the wedding

09 - Chains - Love this, great groove (Nick is god!) the chorus is very arcadia 4/5

10 - One Of Those Days - Love this. Duran does blur! very brit pop. Great chorus 4/5

11 - Point Of No Return - My fav on the cd! up there with Duran’s best! the groove is pure mellow funk 5/5

12 - Still Breathing - A great ending to the album, its reminds me of the end of the Rio cd

Hmm, I remember hearing about last year's tour and they played a new song called "Friends of Mine". I guess it didn't make the final cut of the album, or maybe they just renamed the song ?

Friends of Mine came out on their first cd, back in 1981.

Can't wait for the B-sides on this cd. Their old b-sides were great, Like An Angel, Fame, Khanada, Late Bar, Sekret October, To The Shore (b-side as well as an original deleted track from first DD album issue). Takes me back to my Jr. High days. eek Am I REALLY getting that old? YIKES!

I sort of get the feeling that their last two or so CDs as a trio (LeBon, Rhodes, Cuccurolo) sort of had them as dusty shelved musicians still doing credible work.

Like, before they even reunited, I would mention them and people would be like "They're still alive?"

Pop Trash, I enjoyed, but no mention of it was ever made to the public, aside from some local paper music reviews. My friends and I, who only started getting into them after buying that record for novelty, thought that they were pretty much tastefully washed up, and the back cover photo of Pop Trash was a display of how they've grown obscure, but still enjoy themselves.

I also picked up Medazzaland, and that's one of my favorite albums of all time. The content gets a little Depeche-Modey, in talking about obsession, suicide, etc in tracks like "Be My Icon" and "So Long Suicide". And then some of the tracks were just sci-fi beauty ("Midnight Sun", "Silva Halo")

So basically, I imagined Duran Duran would continue on as "tastefully aged" shelved musicians playing the "Big Fish on a Small Record Label" card.

Then they ditched poor Warren Cuccurolo, who actually found out about the Fab Five Reunion off the INTERNET, being the last to know. I'm sure he wasn't too pleased with that.

So now that they're back, people are acting like they never went anywhere. For like, three years people around town have looked at me funny and asked if I was sure Duran Duran were still making music. Now they're like "OH THE FAB FIVE HAVE A NEW ALBUM!" and suddenly they have public exposure in the media they weren't given since probably the Wedding Album.

I'm sorry, I just had to vent. I feel like the episode of Doug where a 90210 rip-off show makes the outfit he wears everyday popular, so everyone wears it. And when the trend dies, he gets mocked for still wearing it. Except, the other way around.

Whatever.
