your top 5 Dylan albums

hey y'all

I'm ashamed to admit this but i don't own any, nor have i ever listened to a, Bob Dylan album. I'm gonna change that this week-end when I get paid (for the first time yeaah) and I'm gonna spend quite a bit on cd's...So if the people on the board who are familiar with dylan could help me out a bit, that'd be great. What are Dylan's five best albums? (gives me kind of a starting point)

thx
Kev1n
It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

Bob Dylan is a genius second only to Prince in this house.

My top five:

1. Time Out Of Mind
2. Bringing It All Back Home
3. The Bootleg Series
4. World Gone Wrong
5. Blood On The Tracks

For anyone starting out, my choices would be...

1. Blonde On Blonde
2. Blood On The Tracks
3. Royal Albert Hall (live)
4. The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
5. Slow Train Coming

Either these five or buy the Biograph box set. If you have soul and taste, there's no looking back.

.

Excellent choices and I would include his latest too Love & Theft. Bob is our modern day Mozart! worship

Yes, it takes a long time. I have been a big fan for about 10 years, but there was a time when I was like many others and would cringe when I heard him sing and would say "he can't sing at all". A good friend insisted that I try harder to get into Bob and I'm so glad he did because Bob is a genius and he writes the most passionate, touching and profound songs that I've ever heard. He's a man with true musical talent and these days that's very hard to find. Keep listening, his music and lyrics is worth the time and effort.

Can't do a top 5, so here's my top 10 - at a push:

Time Out Of Mind
Blood on The Tracks
Blonde On Blonde
Nashville Skyline
Slow Train Coming
Oh Mercy
Highway 61 Revisited
Love & Theft
Desire
Street Legal

Never heard of "NO Mercy". Love "Oh Mercy" though. He should have included Born In Time, Dignity and especially Series of Dreams on it.
