Only that it was a late 1969 impromptu jam put together by Alan Douglas; Jimi with Buddy and Jal Aladin(Lightning Rod), who was a member of the Last Poets at the time. Jimi went back and overdubbed Bass on the track. Many people think of it as a forerunner to Hip Hop...

Thank you!!I agree. It seems like a forerunner to hip hop. Also,I used to have this cassette with early Jimi recordings and I think they were all instrumentals.I can't find it anywhere and I don't remember the title.I'd love to have it on cd.It was like a Warner Brother Special Music Division release or somethig like that.Ther was a song called "the hornet" or something like that.Itw as the bomb.Paligap,do you know anything about this release? And,further, have you heard the "axis:bold as love" outtakes? Is that a decent cd to purchase? The damned thing is like,$35!That's the only reason I haven't purchased it yet.If it's worth it,I will just have to bite the bullet(of a star).

I've got that one and I wouldnt suggest paying that much for it.The sound quality isnt very good for the most part and one of the trax is a known fake. Some trax from it appear on the official "Noel Redding: The Expirience Sessions" with much better sound.

On the other hand: Just last week I got an EXCELLENT "unofficial" outtakes CD called "Villanova Junction" which sounds great.

I can also reccommend "The Studio Outtakes 1966-1970"

or

"Astro Man" (6-CD Box)
