Gene maybe was a slimeball (check "Gotta be a leader" or "total control") but he made some of the funkiest records competing with teddy ("why u wanna get funky on me", Basic black album is a true hidden gem of hardcore newjack, Mind) so Gene is cool with me!
Timmy Gatling made an album! First 3 tracks slam hard! "Help" "Cheatin'" "Rock me good" r all on par with Guys first album in my book! Aaron got replaced by R kelly, who ripped his voice and style on the slow jams (I know Aaron ripped from C.Wilson)..... You know...I like Aaron Hall's work with Guy and I looove his solo track "Don't Be Afraid" from the Juice soundtrack but he has alot of nerve claiming to be an originator when it is evident he sounds alot like Charlie Wilson - I honestly don't think he and R sound alike. Remember the track Teddy did 4 Al green? "as long as we're together" or something like that.....I swear that is a Teddy track, have to check!) I remember the song because I was Al B. Sure crazy back then and it featured him on the track with Al Green (I wonder who came up with that combination ...I like the song Anyone got the Guy promo mix of "dog me out"? Damn that slams bigtime.....even Damon sings on this one.....plus an extra verse by Wrecks n effect man Aqil Davidson! Check Ebay, they're my main source for old/hard to find music Guy's "the future" is alot better in my view.....great all the way through, ending with surprise gospel song "long gone"..... I love gospel music but this particular track with Teddy " I Know I Can't Sing I Just Used The Song As A Filler" Riley is awful, the production isn't even all that great, he should have had Aaron sing it and gave the song more feeling, soul etc. I will give him credit on stating that he could not sing, his talent is in production. Don't forget Winans song "A friend" done by Teddy and crew! A gorgeous dong that has helped me thrugh alot![/ I love this song Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight

He left right before the album was released and they replaced him with Aaron's brother, Damon...which he still was pretty much like the third wheel. Last time I saw him he was on The Fifth Wheel. Timmy Gatling sings lead on "You Can Call Me Crazy" and "My Business" and he was probably involved in some of the writing/production. I'm pretty sure he got paid...now if Damion got paid off of this album that would be wrong because the album was completed before he was added to the group (the album cover tells it all) They did have time to add Thank you's from Damion Hall and completely took out Timmy Gatling's Thank you's...there definitely had to be some hard feelings with Timmy leaving the group at the last minute. Damion more than likely got his money from live performances. Damion "Crazy Legs" Hall released a solo CD entitled "Straight To The Point" in 1994...songs released were "Satisfy You" with Chante' Moore on shared vocals and the remake "A Song For You" (a duet with his brother Aaron Hall). Does he have chops like his brother, absolutely not, that is one gene that was not passed down to Damion (he's an ok singer, nothing to write home about). I do love the song "Satisfy You". I know they fell out and Teddy sued him etc. Teddy was big time, he owned the radio back then with all the hits, he was the hottest producer at the time for that music genre. I also have the New Kids On The Block CD (no shame here ) I Miss You was a good song and great marketing by his record label.....don't know if you're aware, but the song "I Miss You" has nothing to do with the video "I Miss You". The song is not about the love of his life dying while having their child and he is left to raise the child alone. People actually believe this fabricated story and all you have to do is listen to the lyrics. Once I pointed the lyrics out to people they were like "ohhh", they were so caught up in how he was singing "I Miss You" they totally missed what he was talking about in the song. Tell me about it. Gene lives in Atlanta now and is nothing more than a non-delivering, no-pulling, arrogant, old jack ass. I have been surprised that Aaron was never a bigger artist.he had a great voice and the girls seemed to like him. What happened?

Let's not forget "Piece of My Love". This was actually the best song on the album. I will never forget the rumor about this song. People swore they heard Aaron Hall say "dumb bitch" in the song. I have played this song a million times and it does not sound like he is saying that.
Anyone else remember this? | |

Anyone else remember this? I do...that rumor was huge, Guy explained it but I can't recall all of the specific details, something about the mixing, editing process of the record, he made it very clear that he did not say "dumb bitch". I can't pick one favorite song off of this album, there are so many hits, it's hard to choose. Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight

Anyone else remember this? I don't remember hearing about that rumor, but I liked that song as well. The lyrics don't put a positive spin on having a real relationship, but you can have a little bit of the guy. You can have a piece of my love, it's waiting for you, girl it's true... You can have a piece of my love, it's waiting for you, girl it's true... Baby, you can't have all of me, 'cause I'm not totally free, I can't tell you everything that's going on, baby... There's a few things in my past that should not be explained, I'm askin' you baby, be with me for a little while! Please hush, no questions asked, lay back and relax, (I do love you) take off your shoes, lay your pretty sexy hair down (girl it's true) it's happened now, baby, I'm givin' you a piece of me...you can have... You can have a piece of my love, it's waiting for you, girl it's true... You can have a piece of my love, it's waiting for you, girl it's true, I do love you... I know that this is wrong, but the feeling's so strong, I wish this could last forever... But it wouldn't be the same, tell me who would be the blame if we were to hurt all over again? Please, hush, no questions asked (you can have a piece of my love) lay back and relax, yeah...(it's waiting for you) Take off your shoes, lay your pretty sexy hair down, (girl it's true) I'm askin' you baby, I'm givin' you a piece of my love... "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

He even produced the remix for Jane Child's "I Don't Wanna Fall In Love" and it was just as popular as the original cut produced by Jane.
