Didn't they have women playing American football in lingerie at that event?

I refuse to see how that can be accepted as "family viewing" when a breast causes this much trouble.

It was a tacky dance move but there's no way that Janet deserves the flack she has taken for this.

It just cemented my feelings about "middle America" to be honest.

So,you think Janet's performance was appropriate for a Super Bowl audience? I'm the most liberal person in the world, but come on,there's a time and place for everything. There are many people who bring their young kids to the Super Bowl.Janet and Justin's entire performance was based on sex ("I'll have you naked by the end of this song").And even before the boob-baring part, she was grinding her hips into his crotch and if I'm not mistaken, didn't she also perform her 2001 hit "All For You",which includes the not-so-subtle line "you got a nice package all right...guess I'm gonna have to ride it tonight".Like I said before,I liked her performance...it was sexy and fun.But it is NOT for a "family" audience.

You still didn't answer my question about Lil' Kim and the MTV awards, which targets children through advertising and content.

And Madonna's performed way more salacious lyrics than that, so it's really hypocritical of you to start slagging on Janet for her lyrics now.

The MTV VMAs are WAY different from the Super Bowl! On the VMAs,artists are encouraged to be as crazy, wild and "nasty" as they wanna be...lol...remember Prince's ass-less pants during the 1991 show? We all know that MTV is a sex-obsessed,liberal,free-thinking network, but that's fine because it's on a cable network. It's up to parents to know what their children are watching and there are many ways to control what they see (my sister has two kids and she actually "blocks" certain channels). But during the Super Bowl, parents routinely bring their young children to the game. It's always been a family-oriented event ,and the half-time show should reflect that.

Yes,Maddy has done her share of dirty songs, but has she ever sang them during a family event? Did you ever see Madonna singing "Where Life Begins" on a Super Bowl half-time show?? I must have missed that one...lol...it's not hypocritical to point out that there is a time and place for everything.

Well put David. Honestly, Janet made an error and she'll have to live up to it, and that's that.

America, America!

It sucks that this has hit Janet so hard. I'll admit that "Damita Jo" isn't the best record but it deserved better. "All Nite" not charting on the Top 100 is a sign of the times. The music business has to change and soon!

It was no accident and it certainly was no "wardrobe malfunction"...lol...she planned it to happen that way.Her and Justin were probably thinking "How can we top the Madonna/Britney kiss?...How can we shock the world like that?".Just my two cents...

well, that's one point of view.

i happen to believe that not everyone's world revolves around madonna and i doubt that the super bowl fiasco was a response to m and britney.

So you seriously believe that it was really a "wardrobe malfunction"? That it was totally un-planned? That it was truly an unexpected,un-rehearsed "accident" that just happened? C'mon, you're smarter than that!

i really believe it went further than anticipated. at first i didn't...i was convinced janet had intentionally flashed the crowd. but i was at work wheen i saw it and i didn't "really" see it. when i watched it (over and over again, lol) at home it seemed clear that she was shocked. and justin's face looks like "oh shit, what the hell..."

so yeah, i think it was an accident.

they might be, lol! i just think its funny that when miss america's dress fell off no one assumed she planned it. maybe we should refer to her "wardrobe malfunction" and complain to the fcc and have the network fined. after all, miss america is a family show.

Anyway..didn't Janet go on t.v. and apologize for the incident? I'm just wondering; because if it was infact a 'malfunction', then there should be no need for an apology, right? confuse

i think the apology was a courtesy thing. she knew peeps were angry and she was trying to explain and offer her apologies. personally, i think she should have simply said "hey, this wasn't meant to happen. i'm just as embarrassed as you." and leave it at that.

In my opinion the idea of a wardrobe malfunction is ridiculous. I think she planned it - but I don't for one minute think that she deserved the response she got from America.

It was a breast. think it was offensive or damaging to children. But then I don't think a healthy awareness of sex and sexuality is damaging to kids either. That's just my opinion.

The breast was in no way sexy or in the content of sexual.....

....so why the complaints? Surely little kids have accidently seen their mum naked before or as the youngest generation r bound to do..... have seen harcore porn on internet when only 5?

Anyway, caching a glimpse of a breast with no sexual overtones should have zero effect on small kids.....infact it might put off girls having plastic surgery as that breast looked pretty sick!

That's a little unfair.

I think JJ's titties are alright.

And be honest - it was dripping with sexual overtones.

I still don't feel that it was damaging to any child that watched it though. Kids are very sexually aware.

It's way overblown. I mean think about it we are STILL talking about it. And it was one breast. Just one. Not even two! She apologized. It won't happen again. And I hate CBS anyway. Has anyone ever watched those CSI shows? It has to be THE most gruesome franchise on the air.

Janet recently said she made a huge mistake by apologizing, since it made her appear guilty of something even though it was an accident.

Anyways Janet has to grow some balls, she decided to pull off a stunt and she apologized for it. If she really meant to do it why does she have to apologize, she should have no regrets.

you've decided she tried to pull off a stunt, therefore you think she should have not regrets/apologies. janet, however, has said that it was an accident and is sorry for what happened therefore the whole "she meant to do it, why does she have to apologize" thing doesn't really come into play here.

The whole "stunt" when you look at it is more comical then scandalous. I mean right at the part where Justin sings, "Gonna have you naked by the end of this song" he rips at Janets dress and out plops her jewl encrusted boob. I think it's funny and seeing it was actually more comical. It also points in more of the direction of a stunt then an accident but who cares, I ain't argueing with Janet. But people are all up in arms about a society that is about 50 years away from being innocent. Even the most suburban of suburbanites are anything but innocent. PBS did a Frontline special about this suburban community that had a huge VD outbreak amongst it's teenagers. These kids were pretty much living out their little version of Caligula. So Janet pulls a stunt that she shouldn't have but it STILL doesn't warrant the hypocritical outrage that it's spawned. Walk down any high school hallway and I'm sure you'd here things worse then what Janet did.

What Janet IS guilty of is a criminally lame, by-the-numbers lipsyned performance that didn't include one new song!
