Ohio Players Skin Tight Fire Honey Funkadelic 1971-78 From "Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow" to One Nation Under A Groove" and every one of their albums in between. Parliament 1974-1978 From "Chocolate City" to "Motor Booty Affair". Sly Stone "Fresh" Bootsy 1976-1979 But if u put a gun up to my head, I would have to say "Mothership Connection". But be warned: Mandrill's typical classification as a Funk band is misleading. Sure they played Funk, but they also played Latin, Soul, Fusion, and what has come to be known as World Music. Think of a combination of Santana + War + Parliament/Funkadelic + Earth Wind & Fire = Mandrill. But they don't sound like anyone else, and their musical chops are the equal of ANY of those bands, if not better. The most underrated and criminally overlooked "Funk Band" ever. And for an unpredictable Parliament album suggestion, the most underrated album in their catalog, The Motor Booty Affair:
