Les Claypool

Can anyone give me some info on Les Claypool? Primus, String Cheese Incident and his work with Bernie Worrel. They type of music and influences.
I heard the music is FUNKY but i need my fellow orgers opinions.

Also Bernie Worrels work with Talking Heads. Can anyone give me some info? I have a feeling i will be buying new music!!!! smile

I don't know much about Primus but I do have some of their music and it is funky, and very idiosyncratic and funny too. Les Claypool is a very skilled basist and unlike most metal (or most rock period for that matter) the bass is much more prominent than the guitar in their music. They've been called "a post punk Rush" by some reviewers but I don't really dig Rush that much and it seems like that comparison is only made because there are three of them and the basist is the dominant one.

His Frog Brigade and new stuff is experimental. Check out the Primus website. I downloaded a recent live show and got 2 cds worth of stuff for like ten bucks. Primus.com or primus.org or something like that. Enjoy. They are great live.

'My name is Mud.....'

My name is mud
Not to be confused with bill or jack or pete or dennis
My name is mud and it’s always been
’cause I’m the most boring sons-a-bitch you’ve ever seen
I dress in blue-yes navy blue
From head to toe I’m rather drab except my patent shoes
I make ’em shine, well most the time
’cept today my feet are troddin’ on by this friend of mine
Six foort two and rude as hell
I got to get him in the ground before he starts to smell
My name is mud

My name is mud, but call me alowishus devadander abercrombie
That’s long for mud so I’ve been told
Told that by this sonsabitch that lies before me bloated blue and cold
I’ve got my pride, I drink my wine
I’d drink the finest except I haven’t earned a dime in several months
Or were it years
The breath on that fat bastard could bring any man to tears
We had our words, a common spat
So I kissed him upside the cranium with an aluminum baseball bat
My name is mud

Les is very cool!
