are there artists that you just wont download because.

you like their work so much that u would rather have the whole package?

what made me think of this is i just came across an album i've been dying to get on limewire (darren hayes new cd) but i would rather wait and order it retail to get the whole package

another album i wont download is the new Duran Duran..would rather buy in the store when it comes out
Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

the only stuff i download is hard-to-find stuff and mash-ups/bootleg remixes that people make in their homes and upload for fun. i don't have a moral issue with illegal downloading - i'm just very prissy about my music collection and i tend to want the real thing over something online. i'm not big on iTunes or any of that stuff either. i only get stuff from the NPGMC musicology download store because i don't have any other choice (except for bootleggers, i suppose, but that seems incredibly silly and wasteful).

yea i agree..to me it just doesnt feel right not having the retail cd..even if i get it legally from Itunes i still end up buying the retail version most of the time..thats the reason i bought Musicology from NPGMC and then ended up buying it the day it came out in stores (like a lot of us on the org did)

I've just downloaded live stuff, I buy everything else but that's just because I'm not patient enough to wait and look.

When I want something, I want something and it usually requires liner notes

Raphael Saadiq, Tweet, D'Angelo, OutKast, any of The Clark Sisters, Prince and Stevie Wonder just because they're my favorite and I want to support them

I need to own the CD too. I use P2P actually for the same stuff...hard to find things or a suggested song/artist (i.e Peaches). SOmetimes I am looking for something I already have...but can't locate the cd right away. Or maybe I have a hankering for Carly SImon and lo I own nothing of hers. So I download...get my fix and then go out and buy the darn thing.

My biggest issue is the hard to find stuff. I'd use itunes if I could find things that are out of print...like 12 mixes...or Vanity 6 or Shelia E. That stuff is NOT available, and I don't consider it stealing. I mean Nell Carter give me a break and rerelease this stuff. itunes would have all of my money if they offered all of Prince 12" or Pet Shop Boys 12" or Deee-Lite etc etc. Give me something I can't get easily. There just isn't a place that has MY music.

Didn't you get enough with the Further Listening series?

I think PSB treat us fans quite better than most artists today . Hey, they even released a double album with all their B-sides. A DVD with all their videos (40+) and they keep releasing live concerts DVDs. Soon we'll have the Potemkin soundtrack biggrin

I for one am completely happy with them.

I sort have got enough. 2 very hard to find tracks.... And are essential listening are Liberation remix (only on the single...hell the single was a different song), HCYETBTS single mix...I have been forever MAD that this was not included on either greatest hits package. And their 12" are hard to come by. There are many remixes (like the Very Remixed Disc) that are unavailable.

YES the POP ART DVD was great. They do take care of us. Nightlife is gearing up for a further listening soon. I would like a remastered Relentless though..

I can't find any more free sites to download from. I used to download unreleased Prince stuff, DJ mixes of old songs, megamixes, and hard to find, out of print songs.

I have never downloaded anything I could buy in the record store, it takes too damned long to download one song....if it actually finishes downloading.

That all depends on the connection you have , sometimes i have a song within a minute
and a whole album within 10

My sentiments exactly!

I suppose that means I have nothing to add, and therefore should not even post, but what the heck ...

The only things I'll download are vinyl-only mixes or live shows. That's about it. I will download something if I'd like to preview the CD before I buy it, but I don't keep it on my computer.

I rip all my CDs myself, most of the files you find online are not top quality.

An artist I never download is Janet. I always support her music with my dollars. I want her to have sales, so I go out and get her products at the retail stores. I even go so far as to make sure the salespeople soundscan the Janet item properly so she'll get that SoundScan point!

I was one of the infamous "Damita Jo Virgins" -- the Janet fans that didn't listen to a peep of her latest album even when it was leaked on an internet a month before the release date. It was like unimaginable torture, but it was worth it because I was surprised when the album came out and I had a fun "first listen."

There is something wrong about downloading classical music.
