BrownStone: An Very Underrated Trio from the 90's

I think Brownstone were awesome. They only had 2 Cd's before the broke up. The first one being their biggest with "If You Love Me." I think their 2nd CD was underrated. In fact i think the entire group was underrated. Their voices were perfect and they could have easily been bigger than what they were if they had not broken up.

I love both versions of the group....Monica "Mimi" Doby blended well with Nicci & Maxie on the vocal tip.....as did Kina Cosper ,Mimi's replacement.....

my favorite songs are:

Grapevyne

Sometimes Dancin

Deeper feelings (Ooh La La)

Half of you

Don't cry for me

I can't tell you why

5 miles to empty

All I do

You give good love

Searching (Woo Soundtrack)

In the game of love
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.

The song and video for "5 Miles to Empty" was great. It was from their 2nd Cd(which i can't remember the title of at this moment) which was underrated. Anyone know why they broke up?

I love Brownstone, in fact I was just listening to the first cd yesterday, and I was going to post something about it here. I know that Mimi left the group because of unspecified health problems, related to asthma or something like that. For whatever reason after that second album they just disappeared. I've seen the lead singer here and there on various shows, etc, and I think that she still writes songs and what not, because she either wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on that first album. Too bad, they were such a good group.

They may have had only one hit, but their "2" Cd's were great. I agree with Redayh; Brownstone was a great group.

Redayh, you and i seem to be compatible in more ways than "6"

I thought they were great biggrin Don't have the first album but I think the second is laying around somewhere. I loved 5 Miles to Empty. Those girls could SANG. I hope it wasn't an image thing that sank them, used to hear stuff about the lead singer's figure & all. That's SO whack. And one of the girls came down w/ a disease or condition or something & had to leave, they replaced her, just never seemed to recover. But I dug them smile
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

The second album was titled "Still Climbing".....Kina put out a solo album with the song "Girl from the gutter" she was on some alternative rocker chick ish...good album though.....I always remember hearing that Mimi was actually kicked out of the group and that sickness bit was all a story to cover up internal drama....I do remember seeing all 4 girls on Video Soul back in the days performing together....
