Teena Marie is actually a better performer, I think. Like fine wine, she gets better with age.

Patti Labelle just screams more, and now that she's doing it with rappers in tow, I really have to say she makes me cringe.

better: annie lennox, princey, sheila e., la bowie, sting (even though his music is crap anymore), bruce springsteen (remarkably so), iggy pop (uglier, yes - but still damn cool), the chili peppers

worse: KISS (paul stanley needs to consider a costume with a turtleneck), grace slick (see her lately? OH. MY. GOD.), madonna (she could never really sing, but remember when she had a sense of humor and she could at least kinda carry a tune?)

i don't doubt you, though on the bits and pieces i've heard from TV, she still has that perpetually-out-of-breath/nervous-vibrato sound that has been making my ears bleed since, oh, around "evita". maybe that's the way to sound these days, i dunno. it just sounds like she can't sing from her gut to save her life anymore.

Good call on MJ. The surgery is out of control. He's still rockin' his 80s dance moves. The pseudo-military-look wardrobe...wait...is he still dressing that way? Does he even own a regular-looking suit?

He's super talented, I'll give him that. And he doesn't look 46 at all. Then again, he doesn't look like his old self at all, either.
