Punk/hardcore fans..... Check out this flyer.
Damn, I wish I wasn't so young when all these bands were playing. I have actually seen quite a few of these bands live though, just not at these venues. Anyone else see any of these bands live? [Edited 9/15/04 6:58am] Well, I had already mentioned that I seen Bad Brains. Black Flag, Circle Jerks and The Dead Kennedys were all L.A. punk bands. They were huge out here in the early 80's. I never went to see them play, but I have heard the music quite a bit. I used to skateboard for G&S, Powell & Peralta and Dogtown in the late 70's and early 80's when I was a kid. All of the cats I skated with listen to punk and that's where I got hip to those groups. They were always playing The Whiskey A Go Go, The Roxy, etc in Hollywood. Dead Kennedys were actually from San Francisco, but they were great just the same. "I hate both of those dildos (Bush and Kerry), but Bush seems to be a smaller dildo, although even a small dildo can fuck the shit out of you." - Mastodon on the election

Yeah, I can imagine the opportunity to see all the L.A. bands would have been pretty great. I grew up in Mpls. but all of these bands played there as well, so I have gotten to see quite a few back in the day. No Bad Brains though. The Descendents were one of my favorite bands (still are) and also from the L.A. area. They were my first concert ever actually. Um, yeah I can folllow about HALF of that post....something about a nipple with ice and a bathroom stall and a bagel in there that just flew right over my head, but whatever. Anyway, First Ave. was fun back then, but it's not NY you know. First Ave. really was the only place to hang out back then. That or the Anarchist Bookstore. I saw the Misfits in '97. They had a good show. I don't like the music they're doing now, though, I think the only original Misfit in the group now is Jerry Only.

Yep. I actually didn't even know they were still performing until recently. I've heard "American Psycho", but it's just not the same as their old stuff of course. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I stopped listening to them after he left, so I can't really say. I did just listen to the album I mentioned above, which came out around 1997, if I'm not mistaken, and it just didn't seem like the Misfits I know and love. Too polished sounding IMO, but it was "ok". "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven
