the premiere for britney's version of "my prerogative" is today on mtv's trl. i think usher's new video with alicia keyes premieres today also.

I live in Ann Arbor so I can hear both the Toledo and Detroit pop stations. 95.5 is Clear Channel and now mostly rap (which their critics love to harp on, considering they are supposed to be hit music but only play like five songs without much diversity). Anyway, they must have played the song in the morning and then had callers all say that it sucked (which is kind of strange for a not only a pop audience to say but for a morning zoo to be that negative). My favorite part is that the lead guy said that awful "My Boo" song (and not "My Boo" from Ghostown DJs, that was hot) was the most requested song of the hour and said, no know that's a real song, real music. Are you kidding! Then I listened to another pop station a little later, they must have just played the song and it was all the same comments. I heard only a tiny bit of the song and while it wasn't amazing, it wasn't that terrible. I'm really thinking this is a predictable Britney backlash, which isn't very surprising. Did you know that most of the pop stations have DJ names and "personalities" that are identical? Not much orginality. Thanks Clear Channel. Somebody should give them the memo that she is pro-Bush!

I give it to her for having a hard job. It is NOT easy to get on stage every night and perform. It's hard to do. But that's the only allocades she gets...or any of the others like her. It is obvious that the job has gotten to her and WASN'T what she bargained for.

She's part of this new pre-fab entertainment. It's SO disposable. And her antics and the CONSTANT news swirl around her is absolutely annoying. There is NOTHING real about her. She creates her own (or her MOM does) non-news.

I like Madonna...who is the only thing I can possibly compare her to. Difference is Madonna worked her ass off (literally) to get where she is. Britney and all of these others get their start on a tv show or an ad. There's no integrity behind it. If someone wants to be the next thing...you need no real talent, just a newspaper and a perky smile. Madonna also pushed a few music bounderies and DIDN'T sound like everyone else.

There are SO MANY talented folks out there that do play and write and sing...it is a DAMN SHAME that music/"artists" get the breaks that really talented people do not. And furthermore she and the others perpetuate the crappy music that stifles music and creativity. I shudder at the influences that our young have today. If it keeps like this...we'll NEVER se another artist like Prince.

The only person less talented then Britney is that Hillary Fluff chick. She should do time for her crimes against music.

Going slightly off topic, someone mentioned Madonna, and to me it seems that, despite her image problems, Christina seems to be more like the second coming of Madonna then Britney. Christina just don't give a damn. She wears, acts and pretty much does what she wants and let the consequences fall where they may. That seems more like the Madonna heritage that Britney is so desperately trying to claim. Plus Chistina can sing (overly so at times).

With Britney looking like someone's wet dream yet again in a video, it's time to say goodbye. Try acting or something. I bet she might have a few tricks up her sleeve in that field.

you list a bunch of historical people in that list...and, yes, they are great contributors to musi history. why does everyone in the business have to be "the best of the best"? if you want to ponder the world's problems or enjoy intricate arrangements, lyrics, harmonies, etc. then great...throw on some beatles, some beasties, some bjork, prince, joni mitchell, bob dylan...whoever. to act as though ALL of world needs to subscribe to those styles to enjoy music is incredibly closeminded.

i find it hard to believe that someone who is truly into prince would "poo-poo" some cheese in their musical diet. i find it hard to believe that someone who's truly into prince would be so narrow minded when it comes to music.
