Hello!! She can't sing at all. Can't play any instruments! Can't dance either - she does stripper moves, not dancing! What more do you need??

WAIT

BRITNEY OR BOBBY BROWN?

BOBBY

I LOVE watching all of the "I'm off Drugs (but Why do I look and Act High)" Video footage/interviews.

Plus he smacked Whitney..and I have always wanted to do that. nod And he got her addicted to the junk and I can see no better purpose in her life than that. Can I get an AMEN? (I know it's a shame Celine Dion isn't married to him but oh well...the magic spells only work just so much...and I didn't have a lock of her hair/wad of gum...so there you go) Cheers, thanks a lot. thumbs up!

MJ can sing. rolleyes

MJ could sing, WRITE songs, COME UP WITH HIS OWN DANCE MOVES, choreograph, make music videos and produce. Say what you will about the man he had talent to spare. Britney and most everyone else on MTV is as artificial, fake and talentless as the Mokeys, the Osmonds, the Patridge family or any other manufactured pop stars of the past.

haven't seen the video...i had to leave for class and it hadn't been played yet. i have heard the song and i like it...more than bobby's! yeah, i was never a big fan of his stuff anyway...he shoulda stuck with new edition. anyway, i love what britney covering the song does for it. its a very appropriate cover for her to be doing, lol.

i will have to check the video out on launch.com since mtv is sure to never show a music video tonight (its been hours of practical joke shows...duh).

one of the things i like about the song so much is that "beast within" sound its got goin' on (madonna fans should know what i'm talking about). i don't know how else to describe it...i mean, i know its drums and bass but its got a very middle eastern kinda flare to it.

I just read an interview with Whitney and she said that she was on drugs long before she even met Bobby Brown, now whether she turned him on to drugs or they both were two drug addicts that came together is a different story. I'm a fan of both and they both need serious help before it's too late.

Bobby Brown sold more albums as a solo artist than he did in New Edition. New Edition had to divide their money five ways, I think he made a smart move. BBD had great success and New Edition replaced Bobby with Johnny Gill and they sold even more albums, Bobby's leaving did'nt hurt anyone, if anything it helped them all for the better. Britney's version will never compare.

i understand that peeps don't like her but i don't understand the vehemence in which they despise her. there seem to be a lot of performers who (depending on your opinion) can't sing, can't dance, can't play an instrument, can't write, can't produce, can't whatever. does that make them LESS entertaining? most performers in music's history could not do all of those things. most past performers had songwriters, producers, image consultants, bands (that didn't even get credit), etc. what is so different about brits?

If u can't sing, dance, write, etc. then u shouldn't be in the MUSIC industry. Join a circus if u just wanna ENTERTAIN. Look at the people that have gone down in musical history: Santana, Zeppelin, Clapton, The Doors, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Joni Mitchell, Hendrix, etc. These were people that belonged in the music industry. It just really bugs me how the industry has really takin a dive into a big craphole. How come when I was young, the bands and musicians that were big then actually had some talent.

Nowadays, what the teenie boppers seem to like is CRAP CRAP CRAP.....what a shame sigh

If u like Britney, then like her for her tight little body and her cutsie little smile and that's it! Honestly, its hard to believe that someone who is truly into Prince and his music would even give Britney the time of day....but that's just me shrug

bullshit....there were plenty of famous folks...who were talented but were not a jack of all trades....Many of the Motown artist didn't write, play an instrument, etc BUT were talented.

this thing of people needing to do everything really has come about with videos....I still say that the artist of yesterday wouldn't make it today with the way ppl view what is "talent".

as someone mentioned, as a kid she was a good singer, I watched that Britney Behind The Music on VH1. She was singing good for a little girl and hey she was dancing too. She won couple of talent shows.\

As someone mentioned, blame her music label for not developing her instead of marketing her.

Toxic is the funkiest shit I've heard in a while.
I bought In The Zone and I like couple of more songs like Shadow,Showdown,Brave New Girl. boxed They're all nice pop songs. everyone digs a nice radiofriendly pop song

clapping so true, nowadays it's all about the almighty dollar, selling your soul to the devil if you will. They did'nt put age barriers on singers back then, you did'nt have to be in your twenties or younger to get a record deal. Who says that when you hit the age of 30 your life is over and you can longer sing????? The music industry caters to kids when they should be supplying a variety. I'm pretty sure if the radio stations started drowning the airwaves with real singers, the kids would be forced to listen to it and catch on. I could care less how pretty you are and how well you dance in your videos, Can You Sing????? I could go on and on about the music industry mad

The Music industry hasn't taken a dive. Every decade has crappy teeny-bopper music. Yesterday's Partridge Family and New Kids On The Block are today's Britney Spears and 'NSYNC. Crappy music has always been here and will always be here. To get really upset about it is useless.

Ok, but where is the next legend, or musical genius? Probably playing at a shabby coffee shop in Manhattan, never to be recognized. There sure as hell isn't one on MTV. Today there are twenty-thousand future Paula Abduls and not one person who will have an impact like Madonna (just as an example). Remember when Aerosmith, MJ, Bon Jovi, and Prince were MTV regulars, topping the charts? Now it is Hilary Duff, Fat Joe, and New Found Glory. disbelief Sure there was always crappy music, but there was also good music.

The next "legends" that are currently all over MTV: The White Stripes, Outkast, Foo Fighters, Alicia Keys, etc. They all compare easily to Aerosmith, Prince and Bon Jovi back in the eighties. (MJ & Madonna are in a class by themselves).

And you know if that next Nine Inch Nails record ever comes out, MTV will be all over it.

sad sigh I guess I just one of those people-
Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
But she still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoo
(1985)
Woohoo

She's seen all the classics
She knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink
Even Saint Elmo's Fire
She rocked out to wham
Not a big Limp Biscuit fan
Thought she’d get a hand
On a member of Duran Duran

Where’s the mini-skirt made of snake skin
And who’s the other guy singing in Van Halen
When did reality become T.V.
What ever happen to sitcoms, game shows
(on the radio there was)

And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool

Woohoo

She hates time make it stop
When did Motley Crew become classic rock?
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop
Stop!
And bring back

I saw clips of this video on Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood and this has to be one of the worst remakes I've ever heard. The video is shit too....didn't she already do a similar concept in her last couple videos? This "Britney the rebel" image is annoying the hell out of me. Jessica Simpson's remake of "Angels" was pretty terrible--all that damned screaming towards the end--but this song is torture. Why do these less than talented newbie artists insist on remaking "Signature" songs and then fucking them up is beyond my understanding.

Of course it is.

I am sure we all have something in our collections that isn't exactly quality,..but it's fun, and that's why we have it. I liked a few of Paulas songs, but I never considered her talented or anything ...just had a few catchy songs. I liked a lot more of that stuff when I was younger. But as time progressed a Paula CD went to the resale shops along with a few others. I seek out other stuff. Yes some of it's crap...but most of it is quality. I hate spending my hard earned money on crap anymore. Maybe if I was like 21 or so and going out to the clubs and hearing/dancing to it...

I am just not receptive to her...I think it's mostly cuz she's in my face ALL the time. You hear about her everywhere. I can't even listen to her cuz I can't stand her already. Of course there are MANY people that fit in this catagory for me now. I simply wont even bother.

Britney is fun sugar pop. It's feel good music you don't really have to think about. That's it's appeal. She works hard and I supose she sings allright (I guess). But to call her talented and an artist..is just a stretch.

nah, i wouldn't call her an artist. i don't think i've ever used the word as an adjective for her. i do consider her a performer and an entertainer considering that's what she does.

I finally saw the video and heard the song today. Truthfully, I don't find it to be any better or worse than the original. People can hate on how she sounds in the song, but they're doing it just because they've got it in for her. Her voice sounds about as good as Bobby's does on his version. The production sounds a lot like her typical style but it works well with the sound of the original. Not great but, I dunno, not necessary. I just wish she woulda made a different choice for a new song on the greatest hits set.
