i could always distingiush a whitney houston track right off the bat. she's always had a very unique voice. that makes it all the worse when you hear how she damaged it. i am rooting for a mega comeback for whitney, though. i don't own one of her records and i can't say i'm a big fan but i would love to see her make a grandscale, all out comeback! after all the jokes and talk (of which i certainy participated) it would be great for her to say, figuratively, "fuck all y'all!"

I also hope for a big comeback from her. I figure she has to try something new. I'd like to hear a really classy jazz album from her and not with over singing but just some real soul to it. I'd also like to hear a Euro dance album from her. I fear however that she will do another album with hip R&B producers like Kayne and a few AC favs like David Foster. A jazz album would be the best way to go, that way she could get her older fan base back along with attracting others.

also i'd like to hear her do some more gospel music. i think she is at her best with gospel music.

Everyone here's going to hate me....sorry...

First of all, I think Whitney LOOKED the best she has in a really long time. That's for sure.

Secondly, she sounded pretty good. No terrible off-key moments, as I've witnessed from her live performances in the past.

The problem for me is the way the performance was "puffed-up" and so full of itself. I didn't like the way Clive needed to introduce her as "the greatest singer in the world" -- that wasn't necessary. First of all, the greatest singer in the world shouldn't be one with a history of off-key and erratic performances (though clearly these can be chalked up as drug-related issues). Secondly, if it was because Celine was in the house, it was Saturday Night Live who coined that phrase ("zee greatest singah in zee worlt!"), not Celine herself, who appears so much more humble than Whitney on any day.

I respect Whitney for her talents and was reminded while watching her that next to her entire non-career-related life, her biggest problem is that the girl does a terrible job of selecting songs to perform. Her song choices have been nothing much more than mediocre on the whole for the last ten years!

Meanwhile, she gets up there and soaks up the admiration like she knows she's good...like this is the best "return to form" since Prince this year (ha ha), and like her performance has truly delivered on the title Clive bestowed on her.

I'm sure Clive will help her deliver her version of Santana's comeback album because he'll do a better job of handling the song selections for her. But until then, I remain nonplussed by Whitney. Come to think of it, I thought almost every performance at that thing was rather flat and uninspired.

I heard this morning on the radio that Clive has been rumored to re-guide her on a clear path to success again including no other public appearances until February (when a new single is due by her) and distancing herself away from Bobby Brown. It was also mentioned that he was the one who encouraged Whitney to go to rehab in the first place. hmmm
