Top 10 Artists of All Time 20th century American Musical Artists That is. Otherwise that would be a tad too broad I imagine
Aaanyway, my method would include the three greatest artists of Rock, Jazz, and R&B each and then just....pull a tenth spot out of my ass. For Jazz 1.Duke Ellington 2.Louis Armstrong 3.Miles Davis For R&B 1.Ray Charles 2.James Brown 3.Stevie Wonder For Rock 1.Chuck Berry 2.The Beatles 3.Jimi Hendrix and the tenth spot Prince? Maybe? I don't know if he deserves to be in the top ten or not but I think he's one of the few artists who qualifies as a significant figure in at least two and perhaps all three of the most important genres of american music....well ok, having tried his hand at fusion a few times doesn't make him an important figure in jazz [Edited 9/26/04 0:59am] [Edited 9/26/04 1:00am]

There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

HOWEVER, rock n'roll is an american based music genre, and they certainly were a powerful force both in commercial success and artistic influence in America.
