Artists That Have Alledgedly Influenced Fans To Craziness

What artists have been accused of influencing their fans to do absolutely crazy or insane things for them?

One artist that comes to mind is Ozzy Osbourne. In the 1980s, a lady alledged that Ozzy drove her son to commit suicide.

Michael Jackson.

Influenced a bunch of morons to travel from all parts of the globe (with many female fans carting their wailing kids as well) to stand outside a courtroom for 15 minutes - multiple times!

And teens in glasses and unflattering baggy t-shirts to cry uncontrollably and tell him they love him at his very sightm, also screaming my-cal over and over again

Selena...we all remember what happened there. sad

And someone sent Bjork a mailbomb (it was intercepted in time, nobody was hurt) and the same guy (right?) sent her a videotape of his own suicide.

Was that a fan or a disgruntled employee who'd just been caught embezzling? wink

Then there was the case of Judas Priest who were in a legal dispute about at least one of their fans committing suicide.

from what i remember, maybe a bit of both. the murderer was the president of selena's fan club, if i remember correctly. i'm sure there are some selena fans on here who can give the whole story, but i think it was a fan who got close enough to selena's camp to work for her, then things got dodgey and out of hand and finally things got psychotic and fatal.

You can say that about basically any artist, though.

I forgot to mention this:

I read that back in 1987, when The Smiths broke up, the fans were devastated. One fan in Denver was so heartbroken that he hijacked a local radio station and demanded the DJ to play non-stop Smiths. It lasted for about 5 or 6 hours. He then said that the act was worth every moment in jail.

Now that's a true fan. lol
