anybody remember this album: David Spinozza
A&M Records, 1978 CREDITS (musicians) : guitar, vocal : David Spinozza guitar : Joe Caro bass : Anthony Jackson drums : Rick Marotta, Steve Jordan vibes, xylophone, synthesizer, percussion : Mike Mainieri keyboards : Leon Pendarvis, Rob Mounsey, Warren Bernhardt, Don Grolnick percussion : Gary Mure, David Carey, Rubens Bassini tenor saxophone : Michael Brecker banjo, pedal steel guitar : Eric Weisberg background vocals : Luther Vandross, David Lasley, Diva Gray, Kim Carlson, Gordon Grody horns : Alan Rubin, Randy Brecker, Jon Faddis, Lew Soloff (trumpet) Great debut album by this NY session player-- Contained "Doesn't She Know By Now" and Leon Russell's"Superstar" which both featured Luther Vandross, Diva Gray and David Lasley on background vocals--and even though he's in the "background", Luther can always be heard loud and clear!( this was always true, whether he was doing backgrounds for David Bowie, the CHIC organization, Bob James, etc.-- Luther just could not hide in the background--that voice always rises to the top) Of course Luther later did his own version of "Superstar" on his " Busy Body" album.... On My Way To The Liquor Store (or licka stow) The inclusion of Mike Mainieri, Warren Bernhardt, Don Grolnick & Michael Brecker is sort of signaling the formation of Steps Ahead. tA Tribal Disorder

paligap said: That's so nuts!!! I was gonna post about Modern Times in my 1st reply but didn't want to jack your thread. (Got that somewhere around here on cassette.) The Safari groove is soooo right. Some of the arrangements gave the band a very Weather Report vibe. tA Tribal Disorder
