well i've heard their first single and it made me want to get the album but i stalled because i was afraid that if i bought it i would be disappointed. I dunno...i got audioslave and can listen to that straight so if u say velvet revolver's album is the shit, i probably should cop that one too. i love guns and roses...i just love that head banging stuff with a flow, if it don't have a flow then i can't roll with it. i love heavy metal stuff, it keeps me awake when i have to drive long distances on the interstate...
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

You're definitely gonna love it. It's WAY better than Audioslave, and I liked that one too. VR totally reminds me of GnR but with a different (and better imo) singer. There is some really good stuff on here. Pick it up and if you don't like it, feel free to call me an asshole to everyone here at the org wink .

I like Audioslave and Velvet Revolver.Neither group lacks for great guitar work and cool vocals.Rose was a good vocalist,in my opinion,on the first gnr album, but he lost me after that. All that damn squealing!

I don't think that Velvet sounds VERY much like guns, the instrumental is more simple, more punky, but the ballads are very reminiscent of guns. The harder stuff is a little more direct and more punk than guns. Maybe because the main composers (izzy and axl) were not there. But Scott did a great job in the melodies IMO.

I think the album is decent. It'll be interesting to see what Velevet Revolver and Audioslave do the next time out.

No, definitely not, LP sucks big ass.....VR are better, but it is such an exchangeable sound..... I mean we already had G'n R & STP, this sound is old. Sure, Slash is an excellent guitar-player but this is just not the time anymore for heavy metal solo's with big hair! With all this talent in one group, they should have taken the opportunity to re-invent theirselves!
Audioslave is mentioned, I think they are a perfect example of the joining of two different bands. A chance missed!!!!!

Are you nuts? This album shows, IMO, that Slash wrote all of the music for Guns, you can hear it all through this amazing cd. I agree a little more punk but the solos and everything sound like the new G&R album we've been waiting 10 years for.

Slash wrote like one or two songs while he was in GnR.

Oh, so the rest of Appetite was written by Axl? I didn't know.

Slave, VELVET REVOLVER got that GNR sound because Slash was the main ARRANGER of the guns, so his solos are there, this tone, the modulations in the middle of the solos, the licks. Appetite was mostly written by Izzy Stradlin (the other guitarrist) and Axl Rose. THis duo carried like 80% of all GNR tunes. But the slash sound is there cause he did the guitar arrangements for ALL tracks, even the ones he didn't compose.

I haven't heard the whole cd, but the single just irks me. It sounds like an STP song, has lots of the changes that happen with them, then with a Slash solo. hmm I used to be sooooo into Guns n Roses and I got into STP when they came out. I Just feel like if I want to hear those sounds, I can play those cds I already have. When I buy a new cd, I want something NEW. Abierman is right, they could have reinvented themselves... but maybe they are just stuck in that sound.

I have their album. I got the cd the day after I saw them play at The Wiltern in L.A. and then a surprise show at The Viper Room in Hollywood. Both shows were great. Both gigs were packed to the rafters. Good vocalists in Scott and good musicianship in Slash and co.

Well, u r very wrong with the solo's and the hair. It IS the time for that. Don't know what state u r in, but out here in So. Cal, people r so ready for that again. Not the fake looking shit like a lot of the "hair metal" from the 80's, but cats with hair never left. If u were at the VR shows that I was at, u would have seen cats with long hair everywhere. Like Slash, I've always wore my hair long. It's not fashion or a trend, it's how I choose to wear it. And the same with so many others. And the reason u don't hear guitar solo's in stuff now is because a lot of these cats today CAN'T play lead guitar. Slash can, so you're gonna hear it.

I LOVE the solo in "You've Got No Right".Probably my favorite song on the album. I read an interview (I believe it was Guitar Player)where Slash said that the solo was done in one take. That's what I'm talkin' about. thumbs up!
