I'll finally be able to play my vinyls..

No more wondering about how I am going to play those big, black cds giggle. I stumble across a 4-in-one entertainment at Kmart the other day. Check it out:

Description
Take a step back in time with this Nostalgia Stereo with Turntable. The stereo features a programmable CD player, 33/45-RPM record player, AM/FM stereo tuner and stereo cassette player all in a woodgrain cabinet with a lift lid and stereo speaker system.

I am going to start collecting vinyls and I was concerned about finding a compact record player in this day and age. I thought I was going to have to go searching on ebay or at garage sales to find one. Well, I won't have to do that. This is just what I need...nothing fancy, but it has everying that I need.

What's really cool is that it also has a cd player, cassette player and a radio, in addition to the record player. I hope to get my hands on this real soon.

I've seen that in stores before. I admit it looks really cool, but I wonder about the sound quality. It can't be great. It reminds me of those record players in 1970s that were little portable briefcases--nice if you're a kid and you want to hear some 45s, but not something for a real audiophile. Let us know how it sounds when you get it.

I never buy those "all in one" stereos anymore. When one part wears out, you have a whole stereo with one part not working. The cassette player is usually the first to wear out, then the CD player, then the turntable. Then you have a radio with three broken down parts.

Once I invested in a component system, when one part breaks down, I simply replace it with a new one. They cost more but the components are usually better quality and last longer. I used to buying tabletop stereos every two years. Once I bought components, I have continuously added and upgraded components but I still have my receiver from 1995.

As for a retro system, I would love to find one of those console stereos that came out in the disco era that had disco lights that flashed on the bottom and three small mirror disco balls on the top of it with mirrors and a small spotlight.
