Beyonce Clothing Line Announced

The Associated Press

NEW YORK -- While models strut their way down the catwalk at New York Fashion Week, a new star has announced her "bootylicious" arrival on the fashion scene: Beyonce.

The singer and her mother, Tina Knowles, announced Wednesday the birth of their new clothing line, to be called "The House of Dereon." The line is named after Beyonce's grandmother, Agnes Dereon, whose work as a skilled seamstress inspired the two generations of stylish women.

"To me, this is the greatest way to enter into the fashion world," Beyonce said in a statement.

"Inspired by my grandmother, working with my mother and pursuing a dream we have all had for many years — establishing an important fashion company."

The trademark for the line will be "Couture. Kick. Soul." It will be produced by the Knowles' company, Beyond Productions, and is expected to hit stores in fall 2005.

Damn, what happened to the days when singers/musicians used to focus on making music? It's no wonder why music sucks so bad now. Everybody feels like they have to sing, act, make clothes, have their own resteraunts and shit. It's ridiculous and I wish it would just stop.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

With as few clothes as she wears, it ought to be a damned affordable line.

I've taken notice of this too. It seems like so many folks feel like they have to immerse themselves in every field in order to become a "brand". It's such an ego driven money hungry attitude. Artists want us to wear their name on our rear ends, and smell like them, where our hair like them, but it doesn't end there. Nelly and Lil' John have frickin' energy drinks. These are two of the most repetitive cats in the bizz and they want us to drink Red Bull with their names slapped on it. Thanks, guys. confused

Her time is runnig out. It's slowly creeping upon 14:59, so this is a sad attepmt to stay relevant.

All jokes aside, how many of us actually buy alot of celebrity clothing lines? I like Sean John, but I'm not drowning in it. Do any ladies here wear J-LO?

I like Jessica Simpson's makeup line "Dessert". Eve's clothing line "Fetish" also has nice stuff, but I don't wear a lot of the stuff. All these celeb lines are way overpriced.

feeling ill

This makes me sick! Entertainers dont do things for the love of it, they do it cuz they have the money
Its all the same...release an album,star in a movie,start a fashion line,open a restaurant,etc

And the people who actually love to do it struggle and they get pushed in the dark

But! As much as people are dogging her so called fashion line and saying her clothes suck; The line is going to be a sucess just because she's famous
sigh

All true. There are so many people out there who would probably LOVE to start their own business, whether it's clothes, shoes, design, etc. but they will probably never become successful at it because of the expense that has to go into it. Hell, yeah if I won the lottery or something, maybe I could start my own clothing line at the drop of a hat like that, but for celebrities it's really no big deal. Even Ice-T has his own line of clothing. eek
