I agree! there isn't much effort put into covers these days..
So here's a few of my favs: 
A toilet with graffiti above it..what more could you ask for? 
Really cool, simple cover, although the vinyl version looks slightly better 
Very dark, atmospheric cover

Based on sheer numbers alone, much like his reverse counterpart James Brown , Frank Zappa should get the King of the Cool Album Cover award. Again, like James Brown, this will have to get divided up into decades.
