Jill Scott - Beautifully Human: Words And Sounds Vol. 2

Been waiting for her to drop this for a long time now and I must say it was well worth the wait IMO. It's truly a pleasurable musical journey.

Cross My Mind
Talk To Me
Can't Explain (42nd Street Happenstance)
Whatever
Nothing (Interlude)
My Petition
I Keep

...are the songs that I'm feeling and that are programmed into my CD player to repeat. This is not to say that the other tracks aren't good though. You'll see what I mean when you grab it!

Love & Light,

Quietsoul

...okay it's official...

I'm in love with track 8, "Talk to Me". I really only had a chance to skim through the cd after work today and now that I'm actually listening: I retract my earlier statement about her "going left and flipping it" Those words don't taste so good now that I've been forced to eat them.

Ok...I couldn't get it today due to financial difficulty..but went to 3 different stores to listen to it. Def worth the wait..all the way from the "warm up" at the beginning..to "Iam not afraid...t o I need you...to talk to me...etc....

GREAT DAMN CD JILL>

kinda got lil ol "Musicology" beat. no disrespect.

I can't wait to get it! I ordered my copy from CDWOW, I'm still pumping her first cd and live CD. Is there anything funky on the album like GIMME!?

So... after commenting on your "listening tastes of the Org" thread I decided I had to stop procrastinating (Nova, smile upon me razz ) & get it already. What I went through to get this thing tonight! lol

The last store in my neighborhood to have it this late at night was Walmart. I went there knowing it was 5 minutes to closing. These bastards had already locked the doors whofarted So myself & about 4 other people stood there inquiring about WHY they close before they really should. We ask for the manager, he comes out & says it was closing time "according to Walmart's clock". falloff Long story short, folks got in. I told him they needed a new clock that reflected the time of the rest of the region rolleyes Grabbed Jill & was gone.

I've listened once so far. I'm Not Afraid is really nice, still not feeling Golden. Bedda @ Home is fuckin' SWEET! Much like "It's Love" on the last album in terms of how I feel about it - it just has an infectious energy & really stands out. Also diggin Not Like Crazy, that's going on a compilation someday nod And My Petition reminds me so much of "Loving You" by Minnie.

All in all, VERY good... as expected biggrin I need to see her live one of these days!
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Ohmigod! I am so in love with this CD! biggrin

Even though I wasn't feeling Family Reunion and Golden, I knew there would be something on this album I would dig regardless. Before I even listened to it, I read the words. Beautiful. The ones that stood out most to me were the ones to The Fact Is (I Need You). I knew I would love it from the moment I heard it and I do. It's my favorite song on the album. My other favorites are Bedda At Home and Whatever. I am so grateful to Jill for such a wonderful and refreshing piece of work.

I admit I wasn't feeling "Golden" when it came out....it's very catchy and grew on me...one of those positive songs, that just makes me smile when I hear it....

as for the rest of the album....did hear a few tracks on VH1 Soul yesterday...I will definitely be purchasing the CD.

I am also not feeling golden b/c of the repetitiveness of the song. She keeps repeating the same lyrics over and over. I hope there are more impressive songs on her CD b/c so far I not digging it.

Don't judge it by Golden smile I don't like that one either but it seems to be the only stinker on the album. Listening now, Family Reunion is sounding pretty good. Cross My Mind is great, damn - this is gonna hold me for a while! smile

It was my impluse buy of the week. It was only $10 at Media Play and they never sell Cds nearly that cheap. Anyway, I only listened to a little and I'm not into it yet. I like "Gloden" and am surprised so many people are saying it's crap.

I have been listenig to Jill Scott on VH1Soul promo and I am really digging this whole CD. I am going to buy it soon. Jill is very good and she deserves her props. I have always liked JS and wondered why Mpls doesn't play more of her. While living in FL I heard more of JS but here I don't hear as much. I will have this CD soon, and I will definately play it in my car. She is very sensual and I love her lyrics for that aspect. She is also deep.
U want me to swivel in your love seat, don't

I agree. I can't get with Golden, but maybe it will grow on me. I didn't like Getting In The Way when they came out, but I like it now.
