A-HA 2005

The first few months of 2005 will see the Release of AHA's first CD in America in 12years, despite still recording in Europe and being very successful, WEA dropped AHA in 1993 after they released "Memorial Beach". After that AHA worked solo and had side groups, they recorded once again starting in 1998 and then 2 years later in 2000 released MINOR EARTH MAJOR SKY" the album that BONO called the best of 2000. AHA followed that in 2002 with LIFELINES yet another big seller in Europe, AHA toured extensively but, like QUEEN in the 80's, they ignored any attempt at working in the USA. As the band said they were more concerned with the Fans that stuck with them. Well AHA followed that release with an amazing LIVE CD called "how can I sleep with your voice in my head", the 2cd LTD edition marked the end of AHA's 20 years with WEA international. So in 2004 AHA took time, played some shows, worked solo yet again, but then out of nowhere AHA was signed to a 3CD deal in the USA at Universal Records, with a major campaign to re-introduce the band to america being early in the year. UNIVERSAL went after AHA mainly because someone at the label got an import of their 2000 CD and heard what they were doing and went out after them. AHA has long left the keyboard sound, that sound was gone when they recorded 1990s EAST OF THE SUN WEST OF THE MOON. Their sound since then has been an acoustic, mellow sound, mainly what bands like Coldplay, RadioHead and now new band Keane have been doing.

2005 will also see AHA tour in the states for the first time in almost 20 years.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

wowzas! that's interesting! I've been meaning to pick up some of their stuff since hearing such good things about them here. But, I keep forgetting to check for them when I'm at the local record store with a decent import selection. Maybe I should get around to that now!
