Mayor Of Sunset Strip: One Helluva Rock Movie

If anyone hasn't seen or rented the movie "Mayor of Sunset Strip", I highly HIGHLY recommend it:

The movie's about a guy who was kind of the Andy Warhol of the West Coast, Rodney Bingenheimer - he's worked on the fringes of the music industry since the '60s and has befriended leagues of rock stars over the years, who pay tribute to him in this documentary.

Some of the folks who appear are Cher, David Bowie, Brian Wilson, Oasis, Coldplay, Courtney Love, Nancy Sinatra, Elvis Costello, Alice Cooper, Joan Jett, Cherie Currie and a whole boatload of people I know I'm forgetting.

Anyone who likes rock music needs to see this movie. nod

Yeah, I saw it at the premire out here in L.A. I also have the dvd. Yeah, it's a very cool and somewhat sad movie, I thought.

yeah, it was very sad. i think it showed some kind of unsettling insights on fame and on the whole LA music scene. but there was also a lot about it that was sweet, too.

I saw it and liked it a lot. Rodney also had a brief cameo in the movie I saw last night: End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones. Talk about frickin' sad. Mayor of Sunset Strip was a pollyanna compared to this one. Yikes. I just ate it up nonetheless. biggrin Yum Yum

This is a good movie! Saw it in theatres a while back. The guy's every bit as nerdy as a good music fanboy should be - and I love him for it smile
