Kelis Angers Fans By Charging For Autographs 
Singer Kelis has infuriated her fans by charging them $18 for autographs after a sold-out concert in Scotland, Britain. The "Trick Me" star, 24, invited enthusiastic 'Kelis-ites' backstage after her exclusive gig at Edinburgh's Liquid Room last week but disappointed fans stormed off in disgust when the singer's entourage ordered them to pay Kelis for writing out her signature. The events manager for the venue, Catherine Mackenzie complains, "It was outrageous. I have never heard of anybody charging for autographs before. A lot of fans walked away as soon as they heard." "Insiders had warned us that Kelis was going to be a real nightmare. We were told she was a total diva and that we shouldn't talk to her or look at her." IMHO - this chick is a loser. I don't see her appeal whatsoever. That milkshake thing was disgusting. Some of these so called singers, entertainers and celebrities need a huge dose of reality. Here's a bit of reality for Kelis - she could be forgotten by almost everyone overnight. She has nothing to offer the music biz IMHO. I think she's gonna need that $18  | |

Really. I am not feeling her recent album. So far, the only cut I liked by her was You took my Heartbeat From Me.-It had a cool music and video. Other then that song, I don't particularlly care for her. As for her liveshow, it did not reach me. I saw her on some show live and I did not see anything out of the ordianry, | |

As for her liveshow, it did not reach me. I saw her on some show live and I did not see anything out of the ordianry, I've seen Kelis live and I thought it was a good show. It will be different if you're watching her just do one song on TV. I agree that I didn't like 'Tasty' that much either. I thought 'Wanderland' was much better. Maybe it hasn't grown on me yet. I met Kelis at a autograph signing after a N*E*R*D show at the House of Blues in Hollywood (Kelis was the special guest and Kenna was the opening act). She and Pharrell seemed very distant when I approached them at the aftershow meet and greet. Pharrell was busy chatting on his cell phone, didn't even look in my face when he signed some little N*E*R*D "In Search Of" placard I had. Chad Hugo and the other guy were nice though. When I met Kelis, she autographed my Wanderland CD, but she seemed kind of distant and self-involved. Now, I don't know if the girl was having a bad day or not, but when she hugged me, it didn't seem genuine.
That experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I stopped updating my Kelis fan site after that and I put it on hiatus. That hiatus has lasted for almost two years now. I realized after meeting her that I shouldn't devote my free time commiserating celebrities I hardly even know. I put a lot of energy into making a Kelis fan site and when I met her I didn't even feel validated as a fan. So, I channeled that energy elsewhere. Kelis is still great live, she was amazing around 1999-2001 when she was headlining tours and festivals in Europe with the Kaleidoscope and Wanderland LPs (I have a bootleg "Kelis Live" CD to prove it). Tasty is great, but I'm never going to try and "meet" her again. I'll just admire her music from the audience and I'll leave it at that. an edit for ya. [Edited 9/2/04 14:52pm] | |

Why do ppl want stuff signed by another person anyway? I'm try to teach my daughter that its enough to just buy the cd or poster....you don't need another persons signature.
Some weird form of idol worship...like getting a famous persons name tattoo'd on your body
