She bores me to tears for some reason, just a lazy sounding singer

I LOVED her during her Groove Theory days. I was in high school then and she was my role model. The Groove Theory CD was the sountrack to my high school years. I finally got to meet her a promotioal show she was doing for Infinite Possibilities. All I wanted to tell her was "Thank You for making a CD to get me through som hard times" but when I go there all I could do is cry. Don't you now she came from behind to table and gave me 2 hugs. Her band was laughing at me. It was a mess.

I guess I can agree. I still ADORE her. But I'm not feeling her solo releases. She's not a lazy singer she even said herself that she couldn't do "vocal gynastics". But she has what I call an "honest voice". I believe she wouldn't sing something if she didn't mean it Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0
Thank You SO much Saint Expedite for your help Thank You Virgin de Guadalupe for helping my friend Thank You Saint Anthony for returning my wallet to me untouched

I'm not looking for gymnastics (really, I'm not! ) but the songs I've heard her sing just lay there IMO... Her voice is nice, very sweet - maybe it's the material she likes that just doesn't jive w/ me. Never liked Grove Theory...

They laughed at you? That's cold blooded crap. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I only know of Infinite Possibilities, never heard her other stuff. It's not what I'd call a great album, but it has enough good songs for me to not discard from my collection. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I think Amel is a great singer/songwriter. Her lyrics are deep and honest. She says some beautiful things in her songs.
"...I can breathe you, I can drink in your laugh I can live on your smile I can trip and if I can fall into your arms I can stay there my whole life" Trust me ladies, go say something like that to a man you're interested in. You'll be married before ya know it! LOL! She's a pure singer. Listen to the things she does with her voice at the end of "For Real". She uses her voice like an instrument. Most female vocalists choose to run scales instead of creating phrases. Bravebird is a nice piece of work. My only problem with it is the same as with Infinite Possibilities - the production is wishy-washy at times. Some songs are good, some are blah. Amel herself is always on point, though. Also, here's a woman that is easily prettier than most of her competition, but never uses her looks to sell records. I guess hubby may have a little to do with that, but still...its nice to see pretty/classy instead of beinf bombarded with sexy/slutress.

I immediately liked Amel the minute I heard "Get Up" and Infinite Possibilities is easily one of the best soul albums of the last several years. Bravebird is a little less interesting, but still has some very nice tracks, especially the title track. I bought the Groove Theory album after I.P. and kinda dug it tho it sounds a little dated.
She has the potential to have a long and profitable if not high profile career. She's got a distinctive voice that reminds me of a more lithe version of Sade. Her video is in rotation and I hope it sells her some records. I'd love to hear her doing jazz standards one of these days, she seems versatile enough to do what Diana Krall et al. are doing. well i own both of amel's albums and i like them both. She is very mellow although i have to be in a certain mood to listen to her. She is good for just chillin' round the house relaxin' with your honey or something or reading a book.
She's like Sade on a diet. To me her and Sade are different, cuz Sade got them jams that lift u up when u breakup with someone, or get u in the mood when u r in love. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Amel has a very nice voice.
Soulive has a joint off the "Next" CD called "I Don't Know" featuring her on vocals. The track is tight. Love & Light, Quietsoul "No sex can be safer, it's a pill wrapped in a little piece of paper."

Remember the Toni Braxton video "You're Making Me High?" Those chicks were SO shallow. Bryce rings the bell and they don't wanna know from him 'cause he's a pizza delivery guy!" Toni knows what he's workin' with, though! He's beautiful.

I have: Soulive "I Don't Know" (ft. Amel) "...I do not know why WE CANNOT SEE GOD and may-be he, or she, could shed some light!!..." Sweetback "Gaze" (ft. Amel) Mondo Grosso "Now You Know Better" (ft. Amel) The Roots "Glitches" (ft. Amel) but I don't have that Fishpaw track, need to check that out. What's the title of it? Wow..just when u think u the only AMEL head in town..here we have an appreciation thread. I have loved here since Groove Theory...that whole CD was hot. period. I had just graduated high school (1995)...and it was on of my first college purchases. (Along with "The Show, the Afterparty and the Hotel" from Jodeci). The music was very fresh. doesnt sound too dated to me here in 2004.
Loving Infinite Possibilities (2000). ESPECIALLY the title track. REALLY. take a listen LIVING for Bravebird (2003). I truly wish folks would stop waisting money on Ashlee Simpson, and Lil Jon and go pick this shit up. Lovin 'Givin Somethin up" and 'For Real"....and we can be new. She is the soul. Remember that. Tsk Tsk, What a pity...sometimes Life can be so shitty....
