George's Patience (As a Song) It’s like a conversation, where no-one stops to breathe
Is it my imagination, or did God already leave the table? Such destruction, and pure white castles in the sand No time for introduction With all that money changing hands And the satellite says, “Take a look at all we have” But the old man says, “You want my family, for your liberty…I can’t do that.” Look into the eyes of any patient man Whether they be amber, green or blue, There’s a piece of God staring back at you But they see our children, and the old folk fend for themselves They see our broken women On imaginary shelves But the satellite says, “Won’t you people look at all we have? Don’t you want it? Can’t you see the things that you lack?” Children in his arms, he turns his back. This song is (IMO) one of his most important songs as a artist.. Lyrically and musically. It was a wise decision to use Lennon's piano, but thats not the reason I feel this way.. Lyrically, its well written and I was curious of what perspective/view you think he has... cause I got a lot of thoughts about it... I dont think, and hopefully not he has any reference to his importance as an artist in this song.. i think it goes much deeper. [Edited 9/8/04 16:08pm]

Patience, as a song? it's a nice intro track. but it's a bit tuneless to be a great song in its own right.
my favorite from the album is probably Cars and Trains.... "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

.... Tuneless? Its melody is truely remarkable, the silence in the song... his vocals are hauntingly beautiful truely a song to digest and understand

"I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

Friggin' GREAT album! As always, George writes from the heart - and I'm a sucker for real emotion and heartfelt stuff. And I EVEN love WHAM! (surprise, surprise).

Great lyric, great sentiment, okay song.
I agree with Tessa that it's musically lacking. I really want to like the song and the album, but it hasn't really spoken to me yet. That doesn't mean that I won't come to love it. I just might. Right now, not so much. The more I listen to the album, the more I agree with the review you posted last week. I think he labored too long and forgot to have fun. I also noticed last night how much songwriting collaboration he had. Weren't his previous songs more solo efforts? http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista
