Have you heard of the scissor sisters?

Just wondering if anyone has heard of this band. They are hard to describe but the best description I've hear was take electric six and mix it with elton john.

they are out there... they have a great cover of comfortably numb by Pink Floyd.

Yes, and they're very good, I think. A throwback to the 70's, kinda like The Darkness, but more Elton.
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

the scissor sisters are my guilty pleasure. they are to 70s AM lite rock as fischerspooner was to new wave (hopefully scissor sisters are better in concert). i'm hearing a lot of comparisons to "radical" or "novelty" bands like B52s and electric six, and i'm just not seeing it - they just come off as a group of hip kids who are into glam and listen to a lot of disco and old elton john music. it's derivative as hell, but i can't help it - it's some of the most melodic, hummable stuff i've heard this year.

They've recorded a duet with Kylie, last month. It's due for release later this year.

I'm totally diggin them right now. They are pop music with an edge, and a DAMN fine lead singer. I'm excited to see them live and find out if they can pull that off.

Started a thread on them a while back. I like them. Great debut. The UK bonus tracks are great as well ("Get It Get It"). Love "Tits On The Radio" and "Lovers In The Backseat." First heard about them earlier this spring when they remixed PSB's "Flamboyant." Heard "Comfortably Numb" in a dance club and screamed.

Taken from NME.com

SNIPPIN' MARVELLOUS!

SCISSOR SISTERS have been talking about their studio recordings with KYLIE MINOGUE.

No official date has been set for a release but singer Jake Shears said the collaboration has produced some "really good stuff".

He told BBC Radio 1: "Being in the studio with Kylie for three days has been really surreal and cool. I was so anxious beforehand, I had jet lag and just wanted to make something good and we've had a fantastic time.

"Actually we’re really collaborating and it went really well and I'm happy because I think she had a really good time.

"I think we made some really good stuff. We just got down to business. We were down there (in the studio) for long days so I feel like we got to know each other quite a bit which was pretty fun.

"I identify with her a little bit. There's something about her energy that I saw eye to eye on. (We did) lots of interpretative dances, we danced around a lot."

The New York pop sensations return to the UK for a mammoth tour in October."

I've been going nuts about the Pet Shop Boys lately ("Flamboyant" is awesome but I'm not sure if I like "Miracles" better or not) and apparently Neil Tennent criticized them for being stereotypically gay and way to happy.

yeah well, neil tennent can go suck on a magnetic fields CD. i dunno about the "stereotypically gay" part (as if pet shop boys covering "go west" isn't queer as a catfart?!), but i'll agree with him that the SS album is indeed unapologetically cheery. nod

I downloaded video of their set at Glastonbury and was knocked out. Jake Shears is the business. Ran right out and bought the album the week of release.

Now I'm set to interview the band in D.C. prior to their Sept. 7 show at the 9:30 Club. Can't wait! I'll post a link to the story when it's published.

Peace, David

I also thought it was a bit hypocritical considering how gay-friendly their music has been after and including "Very". As for the SS themseleves, I've heard their"Take Your Mama" single and it's ok. Sorry I can't add much more but the PSB comment.

Scissor Sisters are ace!!

The album is definitely one of the year's best. There's also an interesting early demo version knocking about that's got more of a electro feel. You should also try to get hold of their lounge cover of Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out".

Try and catch them live if you can. I've saw them a couple of times this year and I'll be at the Barrowlands in Glasgow again in October.

Apparently they're big fans of Purple Rain and you can definitely hear a Prince influence on them (check out the guitar lines on "The Skins").

Slave2daGroove

Bought this on vinyl this weekend and it's suprisingly excellant!

It's amazing how it can sound like Elton John (the 70's quality stuff) and disco and punk rock. The dance version of "comfortably numb" still has the jury out on it but overall just very cool and musically diverse.

THANKS PEOPLE OF THE ORG!

Bought it because of this thread.
