Thanks for the update "pFunkjazz".
I only ask that you close your eyes and listen to the "funk" and then ask yourself without all da "P-Funk" hype, 'Is the funk still there?'
Yeah just thought I share that wit ya.

Please don't question my love of "P-Funk", it has been there since day one. But has "real funk"?

Is the question "Would I rather go to a "P-Funk" show today as opposed to your "mainstream" concerts?, well hell yeah, but a "P-Funk" show today can not compare to a "P-Funk" show in the late 70's. And I am 'unfortunate' to have previously witnessed.

GC ain't gotta ask me nothin'! Just tell me WHEN and WHERE and I'm THERE!
Few things ever hold up to the nostalgia of the past, (even Prince shows are not the same as they "used to be"). Then, again, I go to very few "mainstream" gigs. My concert dollar usually goes to jazz or blues gigs. PFUNK is the closest I get to pop (if you will).

You caught them on a bad night cause they usually give it up..and the shows are wilder than most I've seen in the 70's. Been to bout fifty shows or so I'm talkin' experience.
Same thing with any act that tours constantly, the Dead had off nights as well.

They should be there in early May cuz I know the tour ends in mid-May. There's gonna be a climax/wrap in LA down on UCLA campus 5/12.

There's already a conflict with EWF's Vega$ dates (real close to the Prince LA dates). Ya know I'll post the West Coast dates as soon as I get 'em.

I don't know about the 'P-funk' shows you guys get to see, but the ones on the east coast is mostly 'hype' riding on the 'P-funk' legend. The musicianship and creativity of the past just is not there today, although I'm at every show. I guess I personally yearn for the days when the band was tight, no TIGHT! Now, 'The Family Stand', I literly drowl at their shows.

While I don't know what "legend" you are talkin about; Props and stagecraft/ It's low budget and all music. Though I'm strictly West Coast I've been to two east coast gigs DC and Towson MD. Back2back nights. The DC 930 gig was like a warmup and the gig at the Recher was much better. The creativity is there as are the musicians. When they hit So Calif area I get 2 or 3 shows.

FAMILY STAND is active? Where you seeing them at? Yeah I'd love to see them. I love MOON OVER SCORPIO!!
