BJORK- Medulla DVD After much trial and tribulation I found the dvd at Tower Records. Alas, there was no explanation or indication of Ancestors, so now I'm listening to the cd awaiting this awful moment that eveyone has so eloquently described.
So anywho, the dvd is really cool. It was filmed during the recording of the album. It's really cool to see Bjork work in the studio and to watch Rahzel do his beats was AMAZING. All the pics and gifs from the Medulla special on her website are from the documentary. http://unit.bjork.com/spe...s/medulla/ Bjork speaks about the recording process and has some funny metaphors that rival Tori Amos'... I think she wins actually. AND, she has more costume changes than Prince on his Lovesexy tour. I'm not kidding. I usually don't focus on that about her, but my friend and I kept noticing that her dresses kept getting weirder and weirder. Lots of very glitery, shiny clothes... which is cool, but the shapes of them were wild. It was like Queen Amidala on mushrooms, or some other drug that would distort everything around you. Side note about the cd... I'm on Who Is It now and I love the cd so far. Her voice is so incredible and magical... I've got the super headphones on too... This can get orgasmic.... Be back in a bit...

Ok, it sounds like they did show a clip of Ancestors on the dvd. Whoa. I can see how this would have freaked me out more if I hadn't seen this chick vocalize like that. It doesn't look as ugly as it sounds... it does look a little painful, but it's not so bad.
Whoa. That was very much a 21st Century chamber music piece. I liked it. 20th? 21st? College was so long ago... [Edited 8/31/04 22:42pm]

When I heard Where Is The Line in the car for the first time, I had everything short of a total orgasm. I got major chills all up and down my body and unvoluntarily twitched and salivated. That's Bjork for you.

POOK said: BUT POOK LOVE REST OF REVIEW KEEP UP GOOD WRITING! POOK. Well, you know how Tori says weird things... and they kinda make sense, but sometimes they don't... Things like referring to her songs as girls that have margaritas... Or strange dreams she had that inspired songs. Well Bjork went into this whole explanation about how this album is meat, blood and bones... it's not vegetarian... It's a steak dinner and then she mentions veggie burgers... PLUS THIS WAS ALL IN ICELANDIC!!! My friend and I were busting up laughing and I've only giggled at Tori's metaphors.

I got into Tori with Boys For Pele. What put me over the top was her use of harpsichord. Now, listening more to Bjork I realized that she did that first! I just had no idea. Bjork is better. There, I said it.

Yeah, I was feeling pretty tingly, but it might have been the I bought some cd singles as well last night and I was gonna put all this Bjork in my cd wallet to bring to work today. I opened up all the cd singles (4 of them) and I FORGOT TO PUT MEDULLA IN THE WALLET!!! When I got on the trolley to get to work I realized I didn't bring it with me today. Ah well. It's probably better to hear it all the way through without interruptions.
