How do u feel about George Michael's 1990 album, Listen Without Prejudice, Vol.1 I think that George Michael's Listen Without Prejudice is just a classic. There's one song I like on there called Mother's Pride, that's beautiful. It's way better than Faith, which is a landmark. Though, I'm not a George Michael fan, I think that LWP is my favorite and it's a shame that it's kinda underrate today. During this period, I liked his new look and direction. I also like that song Freedom '90, which is probably one of the best George Michael songs ever. Anybody else have their opinions on Listen Without Prejudice. Oh, I hope in the future George will make Vol.2 of this. Why would he even say Vol. 1 when he didn't even follow it up with a sequel 2 the album? I hate when artists do that... Freedom is one of my fovorite songs by him. Very hard song to sing and write. But that's what you get for changing your mind. Wanna become a rock star...listen to that song and get back to me.
Well it looks like the road to heaven but it feels like the road to hell When I knew which side of my bread was buttered I took the knife as well Posing for another picture Everybody has to sell But when you shake your ass they notice fast Some mistakes were built to last.... Coyboys and Angels is an absolute mastrerpiece. The album has a very sad tone to it. [This message was edited Sat Aug 28 10:12:25 2004 by superspaceboy] Christian Zombie Vampires

I am a fan, and it's my favorite.
When it came out, I called it "The Doo-doo Album." Not doo-doo like shit, but he sings the words "doo-doo" in about half of the songs!!! Anyway, I love it from start to finish. The lyrics are heartwrenchingly beautiful. My favorites are "Waiting for That Day", followed by "Waiting (Reprise)" and "Cowboys and Angels." Love love love it!!!! http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

As for the why is there no Vol. 2 question, I believe the original plan was that Vol. 2 was to follow with more dance oriented songs. After Vol. 1 didn't perform as well as anticipated, George entered a legal battle and Vol. 2 was quickly forgotten. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

U N D E R R A T E D LUNDERRATED? thought the same thing. This album definitely tugs at the heart strings. Beautiful "Cowboys and Angels" always gets a few repeats when I play this album. As when any and all of George's albums...every song's a masterpiece!!! George Michæl = the KING of R&B POP!!! [This message was edited Sat Aug 28 13:23:47 2004 by Chico1]

I'm not a big fan of George, but I loved this album. I tried turning on a couple of my friends to it, but they just didn't get it. And Yeah! Where is Vol 2. ?

I think I might prefer "Older" just a little bit more (nothing touches "Jesus to a Child"). But yes, this album is quite wonderful. Maybe not a masterpiece, but I loved it nonetheless.

His last 3 albums has reflected feelings of sadness, mixed feelings about God and love...

Older is a great one too, but I think LWP is just better. To me, Older started his decline because it didn't do well in the U.S at all. My favorite tracks from that album has to be the title track, Jesus To A Child, Move On, & Free. It might not be a classic, but it is another one of those George Michael gems. At least he plays all of the instruments on Older. It's a keeper! Check me out and add me on:

They Won't Go When I Go is the best song on there. Even though Stevie Wonder wrote it 20 years earlier , on LWP it sounds like GM is singng about something extremely personal very haunting and moving. [Edited 8/30/04 4:34am] you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

To me, George Michael's 'Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1' is by far his second best piece of work, almost equalling what he did in 'Faith.' The entire songs on it are classics.
"Praying For Time" is almost as equal a proverbial song as Prince's 'Sign O' The Times was. That's the song President Bush should have been listening to before going to Iraq. "Freedom 90" is more like a personal song about himself, with all those wranglings he was going through with his then record label. I believe this was his most personal album since much of the songs were invaraibly about him growing up from being a celebrity singer to a self-accomplished artist. Does anyone know when Vol. 2 will be out? Does anyone have George's phone number so I could call to ask? Friend, lover, sister, mother/wife

POOK said: REVERB LOL! I was thinking the same thing this week. I must be tapping in the org zeitgiest (sp?) this past month cuz there are threads about just about everyone I've been discovering and re-discovering. ABBA, Roxy Music, George Michael, Deee-Lite, PJ Harvey. It's weird. Just as I think to maybe start a thread about somebody, there it is. But anyway, this album of his will probably always be my favorite. I got it the day it came out and just recently dusted it off. My sweetie and I have been listening to him non-stop since the Behind the Music aired and it's been really refreshing. "Waiting For That Day" is still my favest George Michael song and I've been trying to figure out a way to cover it and the reprise. I love how simple all of the arrangements are on this album. There's only about 3 or 4 things going on at any given time, but each instrument just fills you up. Plus, I can't get over how much he matured and grew as an artist from "Faith" to this. His most impressive set of songs and vocals. Love it.

For everyone wondering, those are three songs that would have appeared on Listen Without Prejudice Volume 2, if that album had ever been released. Of those three, "Happy" is my favorite. But alas, the album will never be released. I just wonder why more songs from that album haven't appeared on bootlegs.....? Keep your headphones on.
