RE: The booing during the Kerry/Bush daughters' speeches.

It appeared that the crowd initially booed the Bush daughters when they were shown on the screen. In retaliation, the Bush supporters started booing the Kerry daughters as they spoke and it became a battle of Bushies booing and Kerryites cheering. Then, when they switched to the feed of the Bush daughters, the crowd noise completely was edited out (in other words, you couldn't tell whether there was ANY booing OR cheering).

And, yes, the brunette Kerry daughter looked quite shaken.

As for the rest of the show, by far the weakest VMA's ever. This year's Grammies and BET awards blew this show away. The only "moment" even close was the Alicia/Stevie/Lenny song. The only other good performance was Christina/Nelly despite my distaste for both of those performers.

You know what I hate? When pop/hip-hop/r&b artists have classical musicians onstage who cannot be heard. What's the frickin' point of paying an orchestra or a handful of string players to show up if you're not even gonna give 'em some love wit the levels??!?!?!??? mad If you want the performance to be all about your BEATS, then fine, don't waste a trained musician's time so they can just sit up there and make your performance look more impressive.
What WAS impressive was the stage set. It really looked awesome.
That being said, last night's show was indicative of everything that is wrong with music today. IT WAS IMAGE TO THE THIRD POWER.
It was also a little disturbing to see Vivica Fox up there droppin' it like a good video hoe. What was the point?
I don't even need to ramble about the lip-synching, it's been covered to death.
For a long time I'd been bored with the Grammys. Last night actually made me appreciate that lil' show in February all the more.

* No one here has mentioned J'Lo's return to the VMA after being MIA from several recent award shows.

Good to see that no one cares. Because while I used to be a fan, I can't stand her now. I thought she looked awful (but didn't really look pregnant ... like people are saying). She didn't seem to have much stage presence.

* On Beyonce, when I first saw her at the pre-show i did think it was Lil' Kim ...but then i remembered I had already seen a tacky Lil Kim with trashy clothes and tracks showing in her hair. So who could this be ... lo and behold it was my girl Beyonce(!)

Why! Tanning is great, her face looked beautiful ... but if you're tanning don't go to lighter, brassier hair. The contrast, ugh! And that outkit ... you can't have breasts and thighs out at the same time. Choose one or the other.

Everything -- tan, hair, outfit -- was over the top. Too much excess just makes one trashy. That is the closest I've seen Beyonce look to a streetwalker. And I'm a fan.

* Alicia looked like she was going to some prom even at first. Big dress with train. Big mid-90's era homemade spiral curls about to fall out. Then I guess she went back stage and spritzed her hair to go to a natural curly look. Some front curls were still hanging limp when she performed with Stevie. What the hell happend. Yes, her first style was out of place, but she could have just whipped her hair back in a pony tail ... instead of simulating a Jheri curl with the big 80's glasses. But she performed well, so let me stop being shallow and talking about her look.

*Where were:
1. Brandy (who did the promo commercials)
2. Britney (who mtv execs hinted might marry on stage with Kevin)
3. Eminem and 50-- who were both nominated (glad they weren't there though)

It's a shame that most of us stuck with the show to see Lauryn Hill yet she never showed. Anybody got the scoop?

The show itself was a typical letdown. Good time waster though. What could be more entertaining then watching Vivica refusing to act her age (again!)? But don' cry for Viv, she has a hit cop show called "Missing" on Lifetime and guess what, she's good.

The best performances of the night were Chrissy/Nelly and Stevie/Alicia. Chrissy for basically showing Jessica she needs to retire and Alicia because even though she wasn't in ine voice, she's a genuine live performer.

Another thing tht caught my eye was the gaggle of guys in business suits and ties spazzing out to "Lean back", looking like a virtual stock broker convention. THIS is the audience for "Lean Back" I see. But we underestimate the popularity of this song. When I go out people practically kill each other to get to the dance floor when this track starts.

why was ma$e tagging along behind Puffy like an annoying puppy dog? Ya'll can't tell me nothing...I know that whole "i'm a preacher" thing has to be a big ole charade. Mase ain't bit more a preacher than i am in my sleep. He's still the same ole mase, dancing in shiny space suits to make money. He doesn't look as innocent as he is trying to make himself out to be so he can sell records. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!!

Vivica looked like the black mommy dearest who skipped two days of meals...

Missy Elliott looked like she took Vivica's missed meals and gobbled them all up....

That Olsen twin who had just came out of rehab looked like she was the same diet plan as Vivica...

Jay-Z was looking highly sexy with his "Pimp of the Year" suit on hollering at Beyonce "Bitch Betta have my money"...

Beyonce looked like she was about to go down the street on a stroll...

Usher forgot to actually sing during his performance..

LL Cool J and his posse of girls wearing shirts that was playing the video to his wack ass song looked rediculous as ever...

P. Diddy didn't know what to do with himself, so i guess he recruited Bruce Willis and decided to teach him how to "Lean Back" when Fat Joe was on stage, guess we know who Willis was gonna follow to the after party's....
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I think he needs more time alone w/ his guitar lol He did okay, glad he played it live. BUT what's up w/ him not just singing it? Why the backing vocal that's louder than his mic? lol And lose the hat hammer As much as I like Prototype, I thought that performance of it was pretty damn boring yawn
