Girl, gots me a collection...
House Nation It takes 2 It's Like that Yeah Rock the house Land of Confusion Jack Your Body French Kiss Black Out Rock to the Beat This is Acid Roof is on Fire Energy Flash And theme to S'Express (I absofuckingly loved them) used to live in Chicago and I grew up on the stuff. BMX was the first station to mix music on the air. Good times! For me it also expanded into techno...ala Nitzer Ebb/808 State which would get mixed in with it. I lived with a DJ who collected a lot of this old stuff...I have it all now as he has no turntable. [This message was edited Thu Aug 26 23:16:50 2004 by superspaceboy] Christian Zombie Vampires

yep, that was a jammmmm wow, I'm old! oh yes, I enjoyed some of the original house music, tracks you mentioned up above but I also had mixed feelings about it... to many boring productions came out at time, just for a quick cash-in on a current trend btw, does Colonel Abrams "Trapped" and "'Im not gonna let" count as House music amongst purists? coincerning the sound he was a pioner in my eyes but not really came outside the scene itself... . I'm really ardent trying to find my way into old house / detroit techno. Unfortunately I don't really know where to start. most of that stuff is still not to my liking as it's too "pop" and "fickle". Searching for some real underground... hmmm....

Inner City - Good Life and Big Fun There is a song out there in the universe that I used to love that a friend of mine had on a mix tape and for the life of me I can't think of the name of it....all I know is some guy talks at the very beginning and then it goes into this beat and then through out the song you hear someone chanting: duuun duuun duuun duuun duuun duuun duuun duuun duuun I don't know if anyone remembers a dance called the jerry lewis but people used to do that dance off of ths song...I know I know, it's like searching for a needle in haystack, impossible to find. Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight

For all those who are in the Chicago area, there is a store at 52nd and Pulaski that has a cd with all the classic house songs from the 80s. I'm sure many remember the mixes that were played on WBMZ. The cd is a double cd with about 26 songs. [This message was edited Fri Aug 27 6:16:55 2004 by jbchavez]

MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE HOUSE MUSIC TRACK!!! Thanks for mentioning this one! "Follow Me," "Do It Properly,".... There are lots of others. But the time I get my bearings straight, y'all probably will have a lot of them covered! "Gotta Have House" was a really good compilation, too. But, I don't think you can find it anymore. Hey DJ! Give me a phat beat!

Detriot used to have love for house music and Inner City is just legendary. Anyone heard of Debbie Deb? She used to have songs that always played on the radio like "When I Hear Music" and "Look OUt Weekend". Would she be considered house music of freestyle?
