Girl, gots me a collection...

House Nation
It takes 2
It's Like that Yeah
Rock the house
Land of Confusion
Jack Your Body
French Kiss
Black Out
Rock to the Beat
This is Acid
Roof is on Fire
Energy Flash
And theme to S'Express (I absofuckingly loved them)

used to live in Chicago and I grew up on the stuff. BMX was the first station to mix music on the air. Good times! For me it also expanded into techno...ala Nitzer Ebb/808 State which would get mixed in with it. I lived with a DJ who collected a lot of this old stuff...I have it all now as he has no turntable.

yep, that was a jammmmm lol wow, I'm old! eek

oh yes, I enjoyed some of the original house music, tracks you mentioned up above nod but I also had mixed feelings about it... to many boring productions came out at time, just for a quick cash-in on a current trend

btw, does Colonel Abrams "Trapped" and "'Im not gonna let" count as House music amongst purists? coincerning the sound he was a pioner in my eyes but not really came outside the scene itself...

I'm really ardent trying to find my way into old house / detroit techno. Unfortunately I don't really know where to start. most of that stuff is still not to my liking as it's too "pop" and "fickle". Searching for some real underground... hmmm....

Raze - Break 4 Love

Inner City - Good Life and Big Fun

There is a song out there in the universe that I used to love that a friend of mine had on a mix tape and for the life of me I can't think of the name of it....all I know is some guy talks at the very beginning and then it goes into this beat and then through out the song you hear someone chanting:

duuun
duuun duuun
duuun duuun duuun duuun duuun duuun

I don't know if anyone remembers a dance called the jerry lewis but people used to do that dance off of ths song...I know I know, it's like searching for a needle in haystack, impossible to find.
Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight
It's cold outside
And much too late to driiiiiiiive
You know I need you baby
I'm so lost without your love

For all those who are in the Chicago area, there is a store at 52nd and Pulaski that has a cd with all the classic house songs from the 80s. I'm sure many remember the mixes that were played on WBMZ. The cd is a double cd with about 26 songs.

MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE HOUSE MUSIC TRACK!!! heart love worship thumbs up!
Thanks for mentioning this one!

"Follow Me," "Do It Properly,".... There are lots of others. But the time I get my bearings straight, y'all probably will have a lot of them covered! "Gotta Have House" was a really good compilation, too. But, I don't think you can find it anymore. sad

Hey DJ! Give me a phat beat!

Follow me by ALLY US on Strictly rhythmis a classic house anthem, Strictly Rhythm sadly closed in 1999..as did Eightball,Emotive,Cajual,Prescription.

Detriot used to have love for house music and Inner City is just legendary. Anyone heard of Debbie Deb? She used to have songs that always played on the radio like "When I Hear Music" and "Look OUt Weekend". Would she be considered house music of freestyle?

Sometimes on a legendary night
Like the closing of the Garage
When the crowd is calling down the spirits
Listen, and you will hear all the houses that walked there before..

Me heart House.

Favoritas:

House Master Boyz - House Nation
Malcom McLaren - Deep in Vogue
David Ian Xtravagaanza - Elements of Vogue (both of these tracks were BEFORE Madonna's a** co-opted it, so no kids, she didn't create voguing.)
Marshall Jefferson - Move Your Body (The House Music Anthem)
Ralphi Rosario - You Used To Hold Me
Strafe - Set It Off
Virgo - Mechanically Replayed
Adonis - No Way Back
Sterling Void - It's Alright
Inner City - Good Life

It wasn't pure house, but I got to give heart to...
Geroge Kranz - Din Daa Daa
Manu Dibango - Soul Makossa
Man Parrish - Hip Hop Be Bop
Strafe - Set It Off

.

I think "Theme From S'Express" sampled the "drop that ghetto blaster" line.

I'd like to add:

Voodoo Ray - A Guy Called Gerald
My Love Is Guaranteed - Sybil
Love On Love - Ezee Possee

Does anyone remember hip-house? Acts like Twin Hype, Mr. Lee, Doug Lazy, Deskee, etc.?
