Did you listen to the end of "I Gotta Find Peace Of Mind" when Hill loses control and starts sobbing? You can really HEAR and FEEL her pain during that part.I got goosebumps when I first heard it. [This message was edited Wed May 8 6:51:58 PDT 2002 by DavidEye]

I must be buggin'.
I am so UNIMPRESSED by what I heard on MTV UNPLUGGED. Lauryn's voice was weak and broken at times, but I can parse that out since it was a live performance. I just don't fathom her guitar chops trying to pull off a entire set solo. Rudimentary and basic. Mediocre. Nothing to get bubbly over. The songs I heard were decent, but they seemed to be fragments, in the process of being further developed. I have to admit I wasn't a big fan of THE MIZ_EDUCATION..., either or the FUGEES. Not that I hated it or them. It was just a big "SO WHAT?" I think this is a refelction of hip-hop. It's aesthetics have an "everyman can do this" bent, but that tends tends to lower the bar of expectations, so that even the pedestrian and mundane are greeted with raving applause. Or maybe it's just those overly enthusiastic MTV interns with the cue cards... test

that I hated it or them. It was just a big "SO WHAT?" I liked her debut album, didn't love it or couldn't NOT stop listening to it, but I like it. It's not the greatest album of the 90s as so many people try to portray it, though. I think this is a refelction of hip-hop.

True, but isn't that the case with rock music too? But granted, it takes instrumenal skills to pull it off with rock - even if average, like most punk groups. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I must've reacted the same way to PUNK. Must've been all the dialogue in between numbers. I dunno. Not bad or sucks; just unimpressive. test
