Yes, those were the BEST house years. Some of my favorites are:
Everybody, Everybody - Black Box Finally - Ce Ce Penniston Show Me Love - Robin S. Jack Your Body - J. M. Silk You Used To Hold Me - (Can't think of her name right now) Movin' On Up - M People Gonna Catch You - Lonnie Gordon Strike It Up - Black Box It's Time For The Percolator - (I would have to go through my stuff to find the artist) Short Dick Man - 20 Fingers Use It Up And Wear It Out - (Another one I would have to find) These are just a few. Back in those years, my turntable had broken and I didn't have a CD player yet so I bought cassettes. In recent years, I have bought a CD burner and burned my favorite house tracks onto several CDs. All my cassettes are boxed up in a closet. I pull them out every now and then and burn some more onto CD whenever I am in a house mood. I definately remember those years though. I used to DJ in a club for a short while back then and house music is a DJ's dream because it is so easy to mix because of the long intro and breaks. House music has branch out into so many different areas since then such as acid, techno, and electronica. In my opinion, the newer house sounds good but it all sounds alike. Some of it is actually too fast to dance to. I definately agree that the earlier house years were the best. Andy is a four letter word.

superspaceboy said: Surprised no one mentioned Black Box. They had some of the the best stuff...though early 90's.
You mean Martha Wash - Black Box hired a french model who could barely speak english to appear in the music videos to lip sync to Martha's voice and to also appear on the album covers. Martha did'nt fit so called music industry standards because she was'nt a skinny model type chick so they did a Milli Vanilli and hired a model....Martha Wash is also the voice behind C&C Music Factory's biggest hit Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now). Martha filed lawsuits and got hers in the end. C&C added her to the group, put her in the music videos and on the album cover and Zelma Davis had to sing in her real voice (Zelma is the one in the Gonna Make You Sweat video lip syncing to Martha's voice). Zelma's real singing voice can't even begin to compare to Martha's, she is far from a power house vocalist. Discrimination is running rapid through the recording industry and it's sad. Whatever happened to hiring someone because they could sing??? The FAKE SO CALLED LEAD SINGER of Black Box's hit's Everybody Everybody and Strike It Up The real sanging diva behind the vocals of Black Box and C&C Music Factory Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight It's cold outside And much too late to driiiiiiiive You know I need you baby I'm so lost without your love Mariah Carey - Stay The Night

Great thread! I got into house music when I attended college in Chicago's northern suburbs -- I ended up staying in the area for several years after graduation.
A few tracks I don't believe has been mentioned here yet: Adeva - "Respect" Tina Moore - "Never Gonna Let You Go" (a little bit later in the game, but I think it counts) I got heavy into the DJ International artists too (Fast Eddie, Tyree Cooper) -- they have been mentioned in this thread already, but here are a few of Fast Eddie's most memorable tracks: "Acid Thunder" "Yo Yo Git Funky" "Most Wanted" "Get On Up" My favorite house track is probably "Break For Love", though I am also partial to Inner City/Kevin Saunderson (I have the Big Fun project on CD). FYI vainandy -- "The Percolator" was performed by Cajmere (I should know; I heard it almost incessantly during the time I was in Chicago).
