california uber alles by dead kennedys headbang

and i used to dig on that album "friendly fascism" by consolidated, which i know is completely anally PC to the hilt, but it was the first hip-hop i'd ever heard that sounded good musically and at the same time said stuff i could kinda get with (pro-gay, pro-woman, pro-animal rights, etc.).

I took liberty to include some socio/political songs, since it often intertwines:

Ani DiFranco's "To The Teeth"
Ani DiFranco's "Fuel"
Ani DiFranco's 'Tis Of Thee"
Grand Master Flash & The Furious Five's "The Message"
Springsteen's cover of "War"
Edwin Starr's "War"
Bob Marley's "War"
Springsteen's "41 Shots (American Skin)"
Bob Dylan's "Hurricane"
The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again"
Special AKA's "Free Nelson Mandela" - dated because of content, but that's obviously a good thing.

Temptation's "Ball Of Confusion"
Temptation's "Masterpiece"
The Pretender's "My City Was Gone"
Stevie Wonder's "Big Brother"
Stevie Wonder's "You Haven't Done Nothin'"
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's "Ohio"
PE's "Brothers Gonna Work It Out"
PE's "Burn Hollywood Burn"
PE's "Power To The People"
PE's "Revolutionary Generation"
PE's "Fight The Power"
PE's "Son Of A Bush"...awwhh, hell just about any political PE songs.
Meshell Ndegeocello's "Shoot'n Up and Gett'n High"

Almost any political song by The Clash.

Gil Scott-Heron's "Winter In America"
Gil Scott-Heron's "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised"
Gil Scott-Heron's "Paint It Black"
Gil Scott-Heron's "Ain't No New Thing"
Prince's "Sign Of The Times" (live version)
Prince's "The War"

The entire What's Going On album. There's never been an album like it.

Bob Dylan - 'John Brown'; 'With God On Our Side'; 'A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall'
Gil Scott-Heron - 'Johannesburg'; 'Winter in America'
Stevie Wonder - 'You Haven't Done Nothin' '
Curtis Mayfield - 'We've Gotta Have Peace'; 'We People Who Are Darker Than Blue'
Buffalo Springfield - 'For What It's Worth'
Billy Bragg & Wilco - 'The Unwelcome Guest' (Not really "anti-war", but a great political song....)
Bob Marley - 'War'

And from recently, I like Faithless - 'Mass Destruction' too...

But the greatest....?
Gotta go with Marvin Gaye - 'What's Going On'
biggrin

BTW, does anyone have a copy of Gil Scott-Heron's song '95 South (All of the places we've been)' on CD / in MP3 format..... Heard it live, but never tracked it down...

I agree with every post and machine gun was the only song that immediately came to mind but then I thought, whether it's about war or protest of anybody being held down by the man.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE

"Fuck you I won't do what you tell me", "Fuck you I won't do what you tell me", "Fuck you I won't do what you tell me"

I guess this would also be more in the socio-political category.
Based on the performance I just saw by Elvis Costello during A Concert For Linda...

...Peace, Love And Understanding

As I walk through
This wicked world
Searchin' for light in the darkness of insanity.

I ask myself
Is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?

And each time I feel like this inside,
There's one thing I wanna know:
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

My band the Punk Rock Orchestra does a new rendition of this song called Schwartzenegger Uber Alles. Here you go with the lyrics:

I am governer Gropinator
You like me now but you'll all pay later
Soon I will be president

Davis power will soon go away
I will train you all today
I will pump up all of you
Your kids will take steroids in school
Your kids will shoot steroids in school

Schwartzenegger - Über Alles
Schwartzenegger - Über Alles

Über Alles - Schwartzenegger
Über Alles - Schwartzenegger

Fitness fascists will control you
Won't tax the rich I'll just tax you!
You voted for me cause I don't hate queers
But speak Spanish and you'll serve five years!

He thought Hitler was a sexy man
You think Arnold's gone as far as he can?
He can't be president you say.
The governator always finds a way.
He will be fürer one day!

California Über Alles (etc.)

Now it is 2024
New York City's on the Ocean Floor
The world is run by robot police
They hunt latinos and the obese

Scream as they drag you to the camp
We'll cut you up like those lying tramps
Who said that Arnold grabbed their tits
The fürer will make you all his bitch

DIE! Austrian poison gas
From Jorg Haider's secret stash
Americans have grown so dense
Democracy triumphes over common sense!
Democracy triumphes over common sense!

California Uber Alles! (etc.)

(Seig Heil to Arnold Schwartzenegger!)

We also do Let's Have a War by Fear

[Chorus:]

[Growling]
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many [x2]

[Sung]
Let's have a war
So you can go and die!
Let's have a war!
We could all use the money!
Let's have a war!
We need the space!
Let's have a war!
Clean out this place!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

[Chorus]

Let's have a war!
Jack up the Dow Jones!
Let's have a war!
It can start in New Jersey!
Let's have a war!
Blame it on the middle-class!
Let's have a war!
We're like rats in a cage!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

[Chorus]

Let's have a war!
Sell the rights to the networks!
Let's have a war!
Let our wallets get fat like last time!
Let's have a war!
Give guns to the queers!
Let's have a war!
The enemy's within!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

[Chorus x2]
