its probably a different band. in the u.s. they are known as "the london suede" due to legal issues. there was already a band called suede in the states. when they tour here they are billed as "the london suede".

that's a fab moment- thank goodness I did get to see them (and that moment) last year at Glastonbury. While I would kill to have been at earlier shows. Ah well, take what you can get, right?

I never got to see them with Bernard Butler. One of my musical regrets ( I've got loads- never seeing the Smiths being one, you know what I mean).

But looking on the bright side, Brett and Bernard are recording together just now. Thats pretty huge.

sigh the smiths sigh

back (basically) on topic, I am VERY excited to hear what Brett and Bernard come up with. While I enjoyed post-Bernard Suede, Dog Man Star is still their defining moment, IMO.

actually, I think the "Stay Together" EP was the moment when the place I was at met the place they were at most perfectly. I think I listened to that EP 10 times daily for months after it's release.

as for "Suede." Well, that one has a special place for me too. It was THE album which snapped me outta my techno/rave trance. Seriously. It was a turning point for me....

Everybody can feel free to call me a ponce if you want, but I loved the second half of Dog Man Star. I've enjoyed some of the other music they've recorded, but that's the album I always go back to.

You'll get no objections from me- I love that album. And, damn, it doesn't get much stronger than the tripple punch of 'Black or Blue', 'The Asphalt World' and 'Still Life." GOOD STUFF!

At one point, only for a while, there was total suede hysteria over here.

They were on the front cover of nme with the title best band in britain BEFORE releasinga single

I member that- that actually was what grabbed the attention of my acid-addled brain and made me think "maybe there IS music beyond techno" lol I waited sooo long to get my hands on that album.
