Whose "SAMPLE" Is It Anyway? Based on a "present" I was given the other day, I got an idea for a board game that might be fun and informative.
I get off on musical facts/trivia and know there are others of you out there that are the same. Here's how it works. The fact is that many hip-hop and popular music tracks are based on samples of existing music. I'll list some popular tunes and you'll come up with whose sample it is. Be as detailed as you like or just give the artist and song title. I was floored when I saw where some of these samples came from. 1st up: Dr. Dre - The Next Episode (the sample runs throughout the track from the intro) p.s. - Wizard of Wax (you know who you are  ) at least give one person a shot at this.

I don't know the names of most of these hip-hop songs but if you put a mp3 sample of it i gaurantee I could list the sample. | |

(he also played Ashley-Pitt in the movie "The Great Escape") Come to find out that his father was first violinist for the London Philharmonic and his mother was a cellist. David briefly studied oboe at the Royal Academy of Music. Now the fun starts when paligap explains how he knew about this record.

That'll be difficult. Not being a hip-hopper by trade, these are tunes I don't possess. If you're lucky, you can catch enough of the tune to hear the sample in question on sites like allmusic and cduniverse. tA Tribal Disorder

LL used original music for I Need Love, right? (I'm guessing) 
There's a song out that samples I Need Love by LL. I thought it odd since it seems like (to me at least) few rap songs get sampled, I guess b/c so many rap songs lack original music. Or do they? Somebody set me straight on this, I really don't listen to enough rap to know, it's just my impression.   I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! McCallum is cool.He was particularly good in "Sapphire & Steele" w/Joanna Lumley, despite the cheap production values.

Can I add one just cause I know it, although I can't take credit for knowing it at the time. Anyone who has heard LL Cool J's " Jack the Ripper " off of the B.A.D. album, that song uses a somewhat obscure sample from a well known New Orleans. Tkat your time with this one since the song is quite old. Here's one more just because this sounds like a fun topic. Add to the fact that I don't know the answer but I know the sample. On the Nappy Roots album, Wooden Leather, the song Nappy Roots Day uses an little known sample from a sixties group, could be a seventies group I don't know for sure. The sample in the Nappy Roots record is Holiday by the Bee Gees. (it sound like the speed has been altered) The LL Cool J sample I can't place. With New Orleans as a clue, i'd guess it'd be a Meters sample. Let's see what others have to say. tA Tribal Disorder
