Foster Slyvers/Misdemeanor

Here's a jam for u. Who in here remembers the cut "Misdemeanor" by Foster Sylvers? This song is killing! From 73, great bassline, good production, good vocals. Foster was 11 when he cut this and they tried to pump him as the next MJ. Foster had the girl voice and the afro, but it took more than that to overthrow a teenage Michael. But I always dug this song. Who else in here digs this, or better still, who remembers it?!

Regan says "Let's Take It To The Stage"!
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

I don't know whether to be more embarassed by the proclivities of orgers towards poppy r&b or the fact that I know all these songs they bring up. eek

I like that song. Foster was the mah (or boy) back in the mid-70's with his bros and sisters. A mini Jackson 5 they were.

Also their song "Fools Paradise" is my favorite Sylvers song of All-Time.

Cool song, yeah. I never thought The Slyvers could touch The J5 though.

This was discussed a while ago! This is a classic 45 in my house. And i have it on like 4 CDR's.

Love tracks, set backs
All can come back
Pick up on the fact

(Take in stride) Love and devotion
(Don’t confide) In the tracks of lost emotions
(Let it glide) It’s gonna subside, she stole my heart

But it’s just a misdemeanor
(You got to get over it)
Oh, he loved her from the start

(What you gonna do) When I think I’m in love
And I catch my girl doin’ me wrong
(Too bad ) It’s just enough to set it back in the start
Like when you get your first ticket for illegal parking

(But don’t you know) It’s no big deal
(Take it slow) She’s not for real
(Let it go) But you know until she stole my heart

But it’s just a misdemeanor
(You got to get over it)
Oh, he loved her from the start

Love tracks, set backs
All can come back
Pick up on the fact

(Take in stride) Love and devotion
(Don’t confide) In the tracks of lost emotions
(Let it glide) It’s going to subside, she stole my heart

But it’s just a misdemeanor
(You got to get over it)
Oh, he loved her from the start

(What you gonna do) Well, I can’t let her go
And my friends all tell me when I’m playin’ the fool
(Too bad) She makes me feel so out of place
Like when you run a red light and find yourself pullin’ over

(But don’t you know) It’s no big deal
(Take it slow) She’s not for real
(Let it go) But you know until she stole my heart

But it’s just a misdemeanor
(You got to get over it)
Oh, he loved her from the start
You’re what I need

Love tracks, set backs
All can come back
Oh, she stole his heart

It’s just a misdemeanor
(You got to get over it)
Oh, he loved her from the start
You’re what I need

Love tracks, set backs

IF I'M THINKING ABOUT THE RIGHT SONG, DID SOMEBODY A FEW YEARS AGO SAMPLE MISDEMEANOR TO A RAP SONG "IT'S GETTING FUNKY"?
I'M NOT SHOUTING, JEEZ!

The D.O.C. "It's Funky Enough" is what y'all are thinking about, a 1989 Dr. Dre production.

Yknow "Misdemeanor" is such a great song, I also like the jazz version by Ahmad Jamal. Parts of that version were looped by Black Moon and GangStarr.

Great song! Timmy Gatling (former member of Guy) did a decent version of "Misdemeanor" on his 1989 debut album, Help.

Love this song, particularly its percussion track! And yeah, I can't help but think of The D.O.C. everytime I listen to it.
