And at least when i went to go see Madonna and Prince in concert, i knew they would be on stage putting on a good show.

Meanwhile let the die hard MJ fans hop the bus saying "yay we get to see MJ walk into a courtroom"

I'm tired of people talking shit about Invincible. The only reason folk say it's crap is because Sony didn't allow the album to deliver the usual six or seven hit singles and therefore it didn't last very long on the charts. Unbreakable, Break Of Dawn, Whatever Happens, Speechless and 2000 Watts (yes, 2000 Watts, folks) all had hit potential. And had Sony allowed both You Rock My World & Butterflies a retail release then they would've hit harder, too.

Actually, I say it's crap because I think it's crap.

weird. what I've only heard on tv was some woman talking about how mj fanclubs are very orginzed and they also orginzed the busses.

MJ's 45th birthday party was organized by fans too. believe me, people donate to mjfan sites. recently, an italian fan club bought a page of support for mj in a italian music magazine with the donations from fans. remeaning money was donated to a kids charity wink

Weird cause i heard MJ paid for his fans to be bussed down to his trial, sorry it's what i heard.

And MJ can donate all the money he wants to children, it won't fix the problem with his molestation charges and he'll look like a fucking hypocrite if they discover he did it.

And by the looks of things, MJ better start packing and making firends with Martha Stewart his cell mate.

Again no MJ does not have the same fanbase with kids as Madonna and Prince, sorry he doesn't.

And Prince is a much better songwriter than MJ. MJ sings songs about how tom sneddon is a cold man and saving the children who are lost.

Prince is much more original in his work and MJ these days has no direction.

And that comment about Elvis shows how closed minded you really are. You know you shouldn't use a Prince site as an opportunity to defend MJ.

ok, if you dont think MJ is not great songwriter thats your opinion. But many people even here agreed that mj has written some of the greatest songs ever actually there was a topic about that a month ago or so about musical geniuses. mj was mentioned alot of times, not just by mjs LAMBS, in your own words. neutral

And what is making me closeminded? Because I stated the fact that Elvis has written none of his songs, and that I dont like his songs.Do I have to like them? rolleyes

I'm at a Prince fan because I'm a Prince fan. And by the way we're at NON-Prince board. What do I have to do to become a Prince fan? I have most of his official albums. rolleyes

Again MJ has more kid fans. Go to MJJforum, mjnewsonline or any forum. Ask peoples ages. Then Come here and ask people here. you'll see the difference yourself. That is what I like about Madonna, nonfans still are somwhat into her music. but if wanna compare fans, mj's got more kid fans.

So, just stop fucking with me, u make me wanna scream

It's a stupid comparison, because it all depends on what type of material an artist releases.

There are a few 13-year-olds on this forum. And a lot of us here have been Prince fans since we were in our early teens (someone mentioned getting hooked on his records at something like age 7, but I digress). Yes, if you make bubblegum pop music, you'll have a younger fanbase. Lyrically challenging material such as Prince's pretty much requires maturity. His material isn't lightweight (not to say MJ's is, but MJ's songs are at the very least much more conventional than Prince's, to say the least).

Michael has a lot of preteen fans, but that number drops off once they hit their teens, from my experience, at least in the real world (perhaps not on an MJ FANS 4 EVA message board, but I'm not venturing into that hellhole).

You can see the same general trend with Madonna, too. When she cuts a fun, danceable record (Madonna, LAV, Music), she has legions of preteen girls buying her records and flocking to concerts. You hear her music around high schools. LAP, Erotica (!), Bedtime Story (except Take A Bow and, to a much lesser extent, Secret), Evita, ROL and AL are not for the tweenie set.

I can see why people are not crazy about Invincible, however, if you drop 2 or 3 tracks from it and you release it by someone young and popular without all the baggage (i can't immediately think of anyone with the required vocal abilities, but that's another thing), it would have been haled as the next coming of Thriller. Guaranteed.

2000 Watts for example, not exactly the best song on the album, was well received by many people i know, because they didn't recognize MJ's voice on it. The moment i told them it was MJ, no one really cared anymore.

Of course, if u make pop music, remaining popular is part of the package. but at least Prince fans should be able to see the difference between popularity and potential/quality.

Bollocks, given the current singles sales climate & the succes of airplay only
singles, It would have been pretty easy & cheap 4 a record company 2 send
one track after another 2 radio...

I've said there are a few good tracks on it. That's hardly indecision. Also, we can re-evaluate albums and artists, can we not? Because I've come to like Dangerous and about half of disc two of HIStory very much (I've always maintained it could have been a great record had he not made it a greatest hits collection). But I still detest Invincible. JMHO. wink

As for the music, I like Prince's and Michael's better because it is more funky.

Prince is more the musical artist though. Michael and Madonna place far too much emphasis on making music videos and choreographed dancers in their concerts. It should be all about the music. When I go to a concert, I want to see somebody jam.....not put on a broadway show.

WORD!!! I love Michael up to "Thriller" and some Madonna, but vainandy said it best! "Broadway Shows" (the focus away from the music) are a big part of music being so fucked -up these days and why nobody actually sings the songs!

I love Mj and Prince. I'm not very familiar with Madonna. I think Michael has made some of the best dance-oriented R&B of all time, while Prince has made some of the most eclectic R&B of all time. Mj's level of output has been hindered I think by his perfectionism, his obsession with commercial viability, and so many other related levels of neurosis. Prince, seems to be the exact opposite of a perfectionist, he'll just hook up it up and record it all by himself if he has to, while MJ will always try to paliate his music by hiring who he perceives to be the best producers and co-writers (who I think don't really help him that much) and using the best sessionmen.

ok bottom line folks.... is that all three of these artists were popular all at the same time.... and now they are looked upon as musical genious's by most of the industry despite there personal problems. theres no king or queen or prince... only music great music for us to use as a model for the years to come.
