Pat Benatar

When I was a kid, after Donna Summer and Olivia Newton John, who I had bigtime crushes on, came Pat Benatar. Oooh, did I have a thing for Pat! Nobody sung like her and nobody looked like her. She was original and had killer songs to boot. I got hipped to her right away with her songs "Heartbreaker" and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" from 80. In 81, she had 2 songs that I really loved, "Fire and Ice" and "Precious Time". "Shawdows of The Night" in 82 was cool as well. Pat was one of the few artists to openly admit that Michael Jackson was making everybody else look bad with his excellent videos "Billie Jean" "Beat It" "Thriller", so she came with a MJ influenced video "Love Is A Battlefield" in 83. The song was funky too! Pat had other songs that I dug as well, "We Belong", "Hell Is For Children". Anyone else in here digs this woman?

Pat's very cool. I always liked her. Her husband Neil Geraldo is actually kinda underrated on geetar too.

I said go away, and leave me alone! I can't stand you no more! -
"You Better Run"

"Love Is A Battlefield" - is the video version of the song on the album? I never heard that version on the radio back then.

Yeah, they used to play it on the radio all the time here in So. Cali. I agree, Neil is a very good guitarist and is very underrated.

thumbs up!

She does an awesome medley of that with Suffer The Little Children at her live gigs.

P.S. Anyone else like her cover of Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights"?

Exactly. She had a opera background, so she brought that to the mix. Yeah, the lady still looks good.

TRUE LOVE is a great album...she was initially classicialy trained and was planning on becoming a stage singer but Rock n Roll called her and she accepted!

Neil is an amazing guitarist and they are so amazing to have been together for so long. They're both still HOT too. (If you ask me..Neil gets hotter as he gets older!)

My favs include the usual suspects...Love Is A Battlefield, Hit me, We Belong....for some reason...I prefer her verison of Kate Bush's 'Weathering Hieghts' more than the original!

Checik out SYNCHRONISTIC WANDERINGS..it's a 3cd career spanning set from Captiol/Chrysalis that came out in '99. It has the original demo version of 'Love Is A Battlefield' as well as a ton of other goodies.

If you're not so hardcore...get BEST SHOTS...her hits collection or wait until spring '05 when Capitol is planning to remaster and repackage BEST SHOTS.
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Have you seen their daughter? At one point, she was part of a teen girl group that would open for Pat at her concerts. Don't know what she's doin' now, but she was hot in a jailbait kinda way...

I absolutely LOVE Pat Benatar. She is my favorite female rocker. She is a beautiful strong hard rocking woman. I could listen to "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" all night long. I also love "Heartbreaker", "Fire and Ice", "Treat Me Right", and "Love Is A Battlefield".

Pat Benatar is the true Queen Of Rock.I love her.I'll never forget in 1980,going over my friend's house after school just to hear her album. It was the album that featured the songs "Treat Me Right","Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and "You Better Run".We played it over and over, everyday. As a rock vocalist,Pat is incredible, and today's so-called rock divas (Sheryl Crow,Pink,Avril, etc) don't even compare. In addition to a powerful voice,Pat had real attitude ,which really showed in her videos. This was one chick that didn't take no mess from the fellas....lol...

"You're a real tough cookie with a long history
Of breaking little hearts like the one in me
Before I put another notch in my lipstick case
You better make sure you put me in my place!"

lol You tell em,Pat!

Pat's old stuff is killer. Her box set is pretty good. If you belong to Columbia house, buy it through them cheap. Did anyone pick up her last album, "Go", and is it any good?

To Davideye, I think that they repackedaged "Best Shots", her first offical hits album and probably the most popular one, with a DVD that has all of her music videos with audio commentary. I think they sell the DVD seperately as well, so if you're going to buy it, might as well get it with the CD.
