i just watched db on a rerun of SNL

and, god, was it awful!

bowie looked like an old hag version of early eurythmics era annie lenox. the performance of "little wonder" was so incredibly lackluster and the band just looked silly. they were clearly trying to be young, hip, and with it. well, you know what they say...if you have to try...

anyway, i'm so glad he came to his senses!

The Bowie SNL performance to see is when he did TVC15 and (I think) Boys Keep Swinging, circa 1979/80...he performed in a dress and had Klaus Nomi and Joey Arias as his background singers. Now THAT was a performance. eek

i've got a feeling ANY db performance would be "the one to see" in comparison to the travesty i just witnessed.

hey, if prince can make a newpowersoul, bowie can f up a little to! lol

if you wanna see bowie screw up royally, try to find the movie "just a gigolo", which for all intents and purposes, is his "under the cherry moon" (only nowhere near as campy, sad to say). they even managed to somehow rope marlene dietrich into the mess. disbelief

hell, i've come to love the first tin machine album over the past year or so. it's really aged surprisingly well. "i can't read", "heaven's in here" and the cover of "working class hero" aren't bad at all....but i HAAATED that album when it first came out.

Hell yeah, Bowie's performance in 76 doing TVCI5 with the toy dogs bumping into shit is classic.

naw, there's no way that could have been from 76 - he was still rockin' the bright orange hair in '76 and doing the thin white duke thing...i need to check out my big book o' bowie, but i'm pretty sure this performance is from '79 or '80. confused

Sorry player, I was thinking of the year Station To Station came out. It is 79, I believe.
