Herbie Hancock's new tour

Anybody seen this Future 2 Future tour? He's playing tonight, I was wondering if it's worth seeing? I've never seen Herbie live.

Herbie is always worth seeing live. Whether he's in an acoustic environment of an electric environment!!!

He's at Avalon, The opener is The New Deal and they're a good mix of jazz, techno funk. It's not sold out either. I'll meet you at Beerworks at 7!

Hmmm I may just try to go! I'm the one with eggplanty-ish hair and a labret piercing!

I saw Herbie last night. some of it was great, some of it was a little too jazzy for me. I don't really like to hear everyone playing the scales and the beat so off beat you can't feel the groove and Herbie just going nuts on piano. He did play some cool new and old stuff though. He went off on the Clavinet and his band was incredible. The opener "The New Deal" was really cool. They're a house, break beat type band. What's cool is that instead of a dj they actually "play" the parts. There's a keyboardist, bass player and an amazing drummer who plays everything live. Check them out if you're at all into this type of music. It's not at all boring techno, they use really cool old synths too, pretty funky.

Here's their web site link, it's a really cool site:

Didn't see Carrie did ya go?

Ms

He came to DC I think already or is coming soon in a small club setting.

HeadHunters-incredible album.

Remember that time on the Grammy's in '83 or '84 cant rememebr when it was Herbie Hancock, Stevie WOnder, Thomas Dolby and another techno dude and they had all their synths, surrounding each other and did a big computer techno funk type song together!??! That was cool!

I think that was the year, 'She BLinded Me With Science' had come out along with, Herbie's 'Future Shock' and of course Stevie was always ahead of the time with his synths!

peace!

I remember that, I think the synth sound is coming back, I still love that funky sound, not techno though. Herbie played Rockit and some stuff from Headhunters. The man loves music and was really into it. He said he wants to die creating new music instead of playing what's already been done. Pretty cool.
