Sukiyaki - What a Depressing Song!! Does anybody remember this song? I think several groups did a cover of this tune, including a group called 4 pm, and also the group A Taste of Honey back in 1981. Here are the lyrics in case you forgot:
It's all because of you, I'm feeling sad and blue You went away, Now my life is just a rainy day and I love you so, How much you'll never know You've gone away and left me lonely. Untouchable memories Seem to keep haunting me Another love so true, That once turned all my gray skies blue But you disappeared, Now my eyes are filled with tears And I'm wishing you were here With me soaked with love all my thoughts of you Now that you're gone I just don't know what to do If only you were here, You'd wash away my tears The sun would shine, Once again you'll be mine all mine But in reality, you and I will never be cos You took your love away from me. Chorus Girl, I don't know what I did to make you leave me But what I do know is That since you've been gone there's such an emptiness inside, I'm wishing you to come back to me. If only you were here, You'd wash away my tears The sun would shine, Once again you'll be mine all mine But in reality, You and I will never be cos You took your love away from me. Oh -- Baby you took your love away from me. Damn!!!!! [This message was edited Sat Aug 21 14:18:24 2004 by psychodelicide] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Yeah, this Japanese dude named Kyu Sakamoto. #1 for 3 wks in 1963, even though it was sung entirely in Japanese.

Interesting, thanks for the info. I figured it must have been someone Asian who originally sang this song, since the title is Asian.
Check this out, I found the original version of this song online. Think I'm going to download it, just for kicks and giggles to hear what it sounds like. [This message was edited Sat Aug 21 12:45:10 2004 by psychodelicide] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

You're right, Slick Rick did sing a part of "Sukiyaki" in his rap song "La Di Da Di." Forgot about that. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I remember them doing it on Soul Train back in the day..two hot Black chicks dressed up in kimonos and one of them was faking like she was playing this big ass harp..of course they were lip-synching..which only make it look worse....love the song though!!! you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

I did d/l the song off a filesharing website. As VoicesCarry mentioned, it was sung by an Asian man, and was sung in Japanese. I can't believe that this song was originally released in 1963, shoot, that makes the song over 40 years old! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Nothing - and I repeat, NOTHING - is more depressing than "Alone Again (Naturally)" by Gilbert O'Sullivan. The ORG - the only place where you can be called a wigger, a racist and a Nazi and be banned for defending yourself. It's so hard being white nowadays...

Strangely enough, I love the song to death. I'm a sucker for depressing songs that don't involve the cliches - blood oozing on the bathroom tiles, mangled bodies being pulled from the car and so on.
BTW, I'm a Janet fan too. The ORG - the only place where you can be called a wigger, a racist and a Nazi and be banned for defending yourself. It's so hard being white nowadays...
