Mr Pitiful, yes great song! Otis was so unique... sadly missed... and at least one BestOf album or sumthing should be found in ANY record collection, no matter what your musical taste is otherwise nod

OMG! I was justing wondering why I never see an Otis thread! You just can't go wrong with any on his cuts. I really love "Tramp." Does Carla Thomas dis him or what? But, then homey comes back and breaks it down! I got six Cadillacs, five Lincolns, four Fords.... I just love it! My mom was supposed to see him perform, but then his plane went down. sad (I've actually seen the picture of his bloated body being pulled out of the water.) I think he was 26 when he died. What a loss.

yes, it's truly sad sad he had such a big impact in such a short life span.. just imagine if that plane didn't crash... what he could have achieved.. what even bigger star he could have been... how many great Otis records we would have today

He definitely was a hell of a vocalist. My parents were fans of his and had tickets to see him in concert. Unfortunately, he passed from the plane crash before they got to see him. There hasn't been any talents to match him and there probably never will be. music "Try a little tenderness"

Pulleeeeze. Otis was the shizit.
He was just about to crossover in a HUGE way.

Dock Of The Bay nod

My favorite tune though is Try A Little Tenderness.

Others:
These Arms Of Mine
That's How Strong My Love Is
I've Been Loving You Too Long
Shake
Respect
Cigarettes And Coffee
Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa
Hard To Handle
I've Got Dreams To Remember

Even his Beatles and Stones covers were cool...different but cool.

Day Tripper
A Hard Day's Night
Satisfaction

Otis had a version of JB's "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag," that dare I say gave the original a run for its money. Yes, I dare say.

Maybe it's just me...but I can imagine Johnny Gill singing this. I've always felt there was a little Otis in him.

Also, we used to have a bunch of the songs you listed on 8-track. eek I'll never forget how just when "Shake" was getting good the tape would stop, abruptly. We'd have to put in Vol. 2 of the 8-track and it would continue where it left off! OMG! What an Otis memory right there!

lol

That's more Truth than Dare.

He even got more notes from the word drag than JB did. thumbs up!
